Welcome to Librarium Online!
I was thinking about a little detachement of my army (the Red Krumpany, made up of a BW and 3 trukks, all scratbuilt as aircraft) when I thought, "Hey! I just converted my warboss to have a kombi flamer, why not give him a retuine of flamers?" I know that in 5th ed. flamer weapons are extremely deadly en masse, and 9 flamers (and two mekboyz with rokkits/big shootas) all mounted in a trukk (or battlewagon, thus uncreasing the number of burnas) plus a warboss would be an excellent squad-krumper.
So, I ask you, Denizens of the ork forum, Is this really viable?
Sounds like it'll be dead killy, but that might be a bit overkill. It's a lot of points and a big threat, so it'll become a primary target for your opponent. Therefore I think a Battlewagon is a better choice than a trukk, but that's even more points.
Burnas are very nasty, but they die as easily as normal boyz and don't score. As long as they have a ride you should be ok.

Wouldn't it score due to the fact that the general is attached to it? Sorta like how people do scoring biker nobz?
Nope, Warbosses allow you to take one unit of Nobz, Biker Nobz, or Mega Nobz as a troop choice, and it doesn't matter if they're attached to the warboss or not.
Burna boyz never count as scoring, which is why I greatly prefer meganobz with combi-scorchas. They're far more resilient, can take a dedicated transport, can wipe out monstrous creatures and still deal with hordes. With the release of 5th edition, I simply don't see a reason to take burna boyz. That many scorchas in one unit is pure overkill, so you'd be better off with either lootas (who don't need a transport), bikes (which are far more resilient), or a troop choice that can claim objectives.
"Any job worth doing, is worth doing with a powerklaw."
One of the guys around here does a speed freak-ish list. Aside from the lootas he does have a couple trukks of boys and a battlewagon with a bunch of burnaboyz and a KFF big mek with burna in it. They just roll up and lay out 1 flamer template over your guys from the wagon, multiply by 16, and generally roll for 80-100+ wounds on whatever they hit. It's cheaper then meganobs and can do it multiple times, but if they lose the wagon despite the KFF, then they're not nearly as viscious. And the KFF also helps cover the trukks and the 2nd wagon full of boyz on the way in to charge range. It wipes whole units of marines in 1 shot, which is not something marine players are used to seeing orks accomplish. Plaguemarines... not so much.
It can be really nasty. Though without the mek's KFF it'd be far less reliable.

Thanks for the advice guys. A healthy dose of rep for all!
