I'm in the first stages of collecting an Eldar army and am looking for advice on the best tactic for killing deep striking terminators.
Any help would be appreciated.
They can be tricky.
Howling Banshees can make pretty short work of Terminators with Doomseer support and some kind of shielding unit to keep them from dieing to incoming fire.
The biggest trouble is predicting where the enemy will put them. If you have a tempting target, then putting the Banshees there can help, but another good way is to use a fast, mobile army, so that the opponent doesn't really have a place to safely deepstrike. Then once they are on the table, you can either avoid them entirely, or bring all your weapons to bare.

I generally run mech, if they drop down and shoot they are in a great template formation. Fireprism focused shots work well, drive by flamers have dropped a couple terminator groups for me in the past (with doomseer support) and the banshees are pure gold. Note this is for the normal terminators if they are storm shield termies just laugh and move away from them.
starcannons, starcannons, and maybe a starcannon or two.
As an alternative to the Banshees solution, or as a "softener" before a Banshees assault, you can Doom the Terminators and concentrate fire from several units (e.g. Dire Avengers + Jetbikes + ...). The principle is simply to force them to make so many saves... Eldar armies are all about combined use of specialized units...
However you should always consider first if the Terminators can be ignored, even if only temporarily.

So if you had some support weapons hanging back, a couple of D Cannons for example, would most people keep a squad of Banshees in reserve to protect them, or be happy to sacrifice the support units and make the most of the fact that the marine player has no terminators in front of your line?
Also, out of interest, if they drop dreadnoughts in rather than terminators whats the best unit to take them on, Fire Dragons?
dreads you can deal with like any other tank-- a solid shot from any of your AT options will do.
Fire dragons of course are the best option for any vehicle, but whether it's economic to hang back with unit of dragons for a puny dreadnought or two, I don't know. You could likely be using dragons to much better effect on enemy preds/raiders, and keep some wave serpent EML's or so for pwning the dreads (as long as they weren't ven dreads - I've had trouble with them)
Had this exact scenario today. Guy had an assault Terminator squad deep strike into my like just turned my twin starcannons round killed 2 then fired a 10 man gaurdian squad in killing another finaly charged a 6 man harliquin squad in troupe master killed 2 the rest fell to the harly's kisses.
hehe 750 point battle killed all his units and didnt loose a single unit gotta love it.
you cannot shoot my harliquins because beneath their mask is an idea and ideas are bulletproof
Saw this happen too. 5 chaos Terminators deepstruck next to a full squad of Scorpions and all but wiped them out. The Eldar player ruched over some dragons in a Falcon and melted the crap out of them. The lone surviving scorpion exarc was able to kill the rest off.
I think both sides suffered the same from that encounter. I can't think of a better solution to that though.
Army's used: Space Wolves, Tomb Kings, High Elves, Tyranids, Tau and Eldar.
