I have been givin lots of advice on how to get da boyz from point A to B and a popular choice is putting 12 in a trukk.
So how is a smart way to rig out the trukks? keep them base? Add maybe one upgrade?

I just use reinforced rams. If I have some spare points, I give 'em grot riggers and armor plates. Basically ANYTHING to keep them rolling towards da front.

You should at least give them a big shoota so the get glancing hit padding. Red paint is also good so they can GO FASTA!

I agree with the Red Paint idea. I don't really go for Grot Riggers or Armor plates because with such low AV values they're likely to be blown into oblivion once they get hit. (or they'll likely be hit enough times to get completely destroyed).
But thats' just my opinion. Personally, I just go with Rams and Red Paint jobs.
Big Shootas comes standard, so no need to upgrade that for Trukks
Rokkit Launcha: Single Shot, BS 2. You'd be better off Ramming at Flat Out. Save the points and buy a Boss Pole for your Nob.
Red Paint Job: Good upgrade if you have points to spare when you're done building your list. It's unnecessary, so don't go crazy with upgrading all your Trukks with it.. It's fun to play around with, but make sure all your other bases are covered first.
Grot Riggers: I've never used them, personally. I suppose they could be effective, but you're losing a turn for a 50% chance to move again. Sure, that might seem better than spending the rest of your turns with a 100% chance of not moving at all.. but your Boyz aren't going to want to wait around for some weedy gitz to fix up their Trukk, so it'll likely be moving without passengers if they do get it up and running again.
Stikkbomb Chukka: That's just silly. Well.. it's certainly a better option than loading all your Boyz up with Stikkbombs! But still.. I mean.. Why? You're preserving your lack of initiative? Have fun with that. (Granted it would useful against certain opponents, Tau, IG, Necrons... And it's certainly better than giving your Boyz Stikkbombs for +12 points... But still... ....)
Armour Plates: If you've got the points left over.... eh, just re-read Red Paint Job.
Boarding Plank / Wrecking Ball: I've never actually played with these yet.. But I do love the idea of a drive-by boxing match with a Leman Russ.. it's just so silly it HAS to be fun! Boarding Plank.. could be viable.. but the Wrecking Ball.. is just too expensive for such a cheap transport. Realistically, you shouldn't spend a tooth more than 45 points on your Ramshackle-wagons.. and those points would be better spent elsewhere. But if you absolutely must, then by all means, go crazy.
Reinforced Ram: This is the only NECESSARY upgrade for your Trukks. Navigating dangerous terrain with greater ease will open up a tonne more options for your Boyz. Plus, it allows your Trukk to Tank Shock! I'm not sure if many people realize this.. at least.. they don't seem to around here.. but Tank Shocking is GREAT! Especially when used in conjunction with a bunch of angry Orks on the charge!
Synopsis - Don't count on your Trukks surviving for long. They'll drop your Trukka Boyz off and hopefully get a Tank Shock or two. Beyond that, if you've gone crazy with upgrades in hopes of "Making sure your Boyz get to where they need to go"... You're living in a dream.. Save the points spent on upgrades and buy another Trukker mob.. that's the best insurance we got.

My only addition would be Stikkbomb chukkas are worth their weight in gold vs other Orks. However, vs anything else they are worthless. Most armies have a better Int and they won't matter, and the ones where we would have a better Int are so weedy that they won't do enough damage before the Orks attack and wipe them out.
