I've been working on my Dark Eldar for a little over a month now I think, and I'm trying to use a good mix of craftworld and DE bits. What I've got done so far is being updated occasionally at: http://www.librarium-online.com/foru...n-project.html (CEL's Dark Eldar Restoration Project!)
I'm getting a lot of the bits for this army from old models rescued from my friend's basement, but I recently decided to get some quality bits, and sent an order to maelstrom games. I got one DE battleforce, and one CWE battleforce, and my head is spinning with conversion ideas.
Firstly, I have a wave serpant which I think should become a ravager of some sort. Aside from loads of spikes and a dark evil paint scheme, does anyone have any ideas to make it feel less craftworldy? Next is the warwalker which I think will either have to be converted into some sort of walking talos, or just scrapped for bits to use elsewhere.
What I was mainly interested were the guardians and dire avengers. I am hoping to make incubi out of the avengers. The old incubi models are pretty terrible. While I'm sure phallic helmets serve some purpose, they look kind of silly. I think a much better alternative tormenter helm would instead be the avengere shoulder-mounted targetty things. Sort of predator style.
Guardian torsos actually look like they are trying to protect themselves, and with a bit of work, become nice dark eldar. And their legs are a lot more workable than the deldar ones.
Dire avenger skurikats have those spiffy scopes on them, which I think would be good to have for the splinter rifles of a sniper squad. That's not too bad of a conversion, but I'm sure there must be more I could do. Basically, I have completely unassembled:
10 guardians, 6 avengers, a warwalker, waveserpant, 20 deldar warriors, 5 jetbikes, and a raider. Then I have loads of bits, so that's what I've got to work with at the moment.
Can anyone think up any crafty conversion ideas that I might have missed? Much thanks!
[...] So I burst into his office and exclaimed, quite frankly, "That's Numberwang." As I recall it, he cried.
Mix a Dire Avenger torso with Warrior Legs and add the robe flap thing (will require some bulking up), or the the warrior body and Avenger legs. I gave them all sorts of weapons I had lying around and now I use these guys as Wyches.
I actually turned an Eldar Bonesinger into my Archon. Its 1000000 times cooler than the current one.
I have some pictures somewhere here on LO, you can probably find them with the search function.
That sounds like a good idea, in addition i like the Dark Elf models from fantasy, i would use corsairs models with some conversion to act as succubi or use the dark elf warrior heads, with gaurdian bodies and dark eldar guns, for dark eldar warriors. Witchs for wyches and tori spelling for warp beasts...
Most of my Warriors have at least one piece (torso or legs) from an Avenger or Guardian. I generally use the DE arms and heads, though.
"Is Archon Braigh-Dee going to have to choke a Wych?
