Welcome to Librarium Online!
Ok so I was wondering how this would turn out in an apocalypse army:
1 seer council
all of the phoenix lords
1 cobra type 2 super heavy grav tank
1 revenant with sonic lances and another with pulsars
1 scorpion type 2
1 eldar phoenix
1 vampire hunter
1 eldar night spinner
3 war walkers
2 fire prisms
1 harlequin troop
4 squads of rangers
and a squad of fire dragons with anti tank weaponry
any suggestions are welcome as you can probably tell I have plenty of money to spend on this (been saving for quite some time now)
do apoc games generally not use many troops? Sorry I don't have much advice, I don't play apoc, it just strikes me from the PoV of a large battle 40k player that you're hellish low on infantry numbers. I'm guesing an "elite" army with a lot of high/D strength weapons would be able to take you out fairly quickly.
I think DT has grossly understated the problem. You have almost no standard troops and the ones you do have are very specialised - I think you need some DA and Howling Banshees.
I hate to ask, but why the hell do you have a Revenant Titan with Sonic Lances? Obviously you can't change it if you already have the model (I don't know whether you have or not) but if you don't already have the model then don't get it. The Pulsars are better in every single way and there really is no reason why you would take Sonic Lances over Pulsars other than variety being as the points are exactly the same for both.
I'd take some of the Rangers out and maybe the Firestorm in favour of Howling Banshees, Dire Avengers and a Night Spinner instead of the FS (trust me they are better).
The previous posters hit it on the spot, so I'll leave that be.
My contention is ALL of the Phoenix Lords. One or two are certainly destructive in their own right, but all 6 sounds like a point sink.
Maugan Ra, Jain Zar and Karandras are certainly worth their points if fielded solo, Asurmen is alright if he leads a squad of Dire Avengers.
Fuegan is fieldable, but I feel his role of short range tankbusting isn't entirely suitable unless he's being transported (which at that point, you might as well just pay for a squad of Fire Dragons, which is arguably more effective).
Baharroth is really not worth the points in any situation.
If you're insisting on using them, pick one or two your favorite Phoenix Lord's and stick with them, maybe give them an escort squad of their Aspect (except Maugan Ra, that mother should be hanging solo tearing up the midground).
What I would do is shell out for a fully tricked out Seer Council on Jetbikes. Doom/Fortune Farseer, 10 Warlocks (2 enhance, 1 Conceal, 1 or 2 Embolden, the rest Destructors), Singing Spears for the Seer and all the locks without Destructor. This is a unit that will tear up whatever they hit pretty hard.
Thanks for your input i will add some dire avengers and banshees as well as borrowing others from buddies. Unfortunately i realized that the sonic lances suck after i bought them, as of right now, i am beginning a conversion project so i can have 2 pulsar titans.
Oh and the reason im using all the phoenix lords are for the avatar. its special counsel, like warlocks with seers only better. not sure if there are official rules as a buddy just told me about them... so... yeah.
I think the special rules for the Phoeni Lord/Avatar combo is something that was in White Dwarf a few months ago. If it is the one I'm thinking, it allows the Avatar to double his "inspire" presence distance to 24 inches and makes him immune to not only flamers, but Plasma as well. Against any list with Plasma heavy options, it could be a godsend.
