Mega Armored Nobs
Just Standard Boyz (More pts for other units)
You’ve got a Kult Of Speed army flying across the board with a single Battlewagon leading the way, what do you think is the best unit to leap out of it?
I usually prefer throwing in a Warboss and a large unit of regular Boyz. The advantage to this is that they are cheaper than the alternatives (usually) and you can have more wounds. It's cool to have a unit of mega armoured Nobz, but with only 5-10 or however many you put in, it's not exactly overwhelming (or cheap!). Throw in your standard Boyz, and watch them tear it up.
I'm a firm beleiver in the old saying, "If one is good, two is better." So, I always run at least two battlewagons. That way a single shot does not wreck my game plan. But, to answer your question, with all that room, it just seems a waste not to fill it to the brim with boyz. So, I put sluggas in my BW. Sometimes I'll put a warboss with them if he is not with a trukk mob.
i run 3 . All filed with 20 shoota boyz, 2 bs, and nob with pk and bp
when life gives you lemons.........LEMONS FOR THE LEMON GOD!!
Leap out of it, you say?!?!
Let's analyze this: You have a heavily armoured vehicle with a dangerous payload barreling up the field, Kustom Force Field deflecting lascannons left and right, you arrive on the frontline and unleash:
A) Shootaz, Sluggaz, Mega-Nobz, Nobz and or your Warboss on to the gunline. Great, right? Well, providing you brought Mega-Nobz, you've definately fumbled. Nobody would invest in more than five Megaz, meaning you don't even have enough manpower to draw more than one enemy unit into CC, win brutally and leave a few stunned Nobz staring down the barrels of enough AP2 weapons to make them pee in their Mega-Armour. Providing you brought a decent sized mob of Boyz, you may be able to cause a decent amount of damage, break some 'eadz and break some units, but the same point applied, you're in trouble.
You did it the SnotlingFondler way. You brought an open-topped wagon jam packed full of promethium-packin' Burnaz, meaning you can flame from anywhere on your vehicle. You've now created the biggest mess of a heavily packed Tyranid, Eldar or Guard army (You're going to end up doing 40+ wounds to any unit targetted!), backed up by a very heavy tank, combined with a KFF 4+ save. You've also drawn enough fire thrown at this huge threat to let your boyz get to the frontline intact.
"Show 'em the gunline, Boss"
I like being able to use the entire 20 spoyts in my BW. So I am going to go with the squad of boys. Except seeing as burnas can't have a trukk and I don't feel like taking one away from my nobs or a squad of boys, if I use burnas they usually also get to habe a pimp mobile, or battle wagon what ever you wish to call it.
Isn't That Just Peachey
I find that if you are going to invest in meganobz, you go big or go home.. Unless you want a quick splinter unit for being run in a truck, (which can only hold 6 anyways) for taking out vehicles or other uses.
If you are fielding meganobz in a battlewagon, it can hold 10 MANZ. So you put 10 Manz in there.
I don't know about you, but if they are aiming their AP2 weapons at my 10 manz which just jumped out and destroyed their best unit, or one of their stronger units, that means my battlewagons live another turn to smash a unit with their death rollers... Or shoot, or pick up a foot slogging unit (if there are any available)... That is great to me.
Furthermore, Manz are very tough. Sure they don't have an invulnerable save, but they have double the wounds of terminators. Which, IMO, equally makes up for the no invulnerable save thing. Plus they got some good shooting. Generally speaking if you play it properly you should just get out of close combat at the end of their turn, thus avoiding being shot and getting to assault on your turn again.
Maybe I am wrong here, however I find your statement of 'nobody takes more then 5 megaz'or 'if they bought megaz they definitely fumbled.' Recently megaz have become increasingly popular and in fact I do remember reading a tournament report where a player with 3 battlewagons and 2 units of a large amount of megaz did very well at a tournament. So obviously he didn't fumble!!!!
And obviously as you can figure out, I choose mega nobz to jump out! Cause their only real disadvantage is movement. And what a better thing to jump them out of, then something just as amoured and destroyey like they are!
Not to start a heated arguement, which is all players seem to do on this forum, MegaNobz fail, and I've never bothered fielding (not to mention paying $$$ for -.-) them. Maybe they work for you, but I'd rather spend their insane points-cost on something more useful to me. Besides, high-initiative armour-bypassing weapons and your points are out the window.
On another note, don't even attempt to insult my intelligence, the man asked for my opinion, I gave it. Constructive criticism is the way forward.
"Show 'em the gunline, Boss"
If you're fielding a /single/ Battle Wagon, I'm prone to believe it'd be much better to use an uber stompy unit to utilize the 18" (19") movement for a garunteed Furious Charge.
This does indeed include Burnas! They have bloody power weapons! Burnas are a great unit all around if you chuck 'em in the right vehicle. Even if you aren't maximizing your speed and stick to 6"(7") Tank Shocks (dangerous in my books, as a 12"(13") Tank Shock grants you the added defense of being hit on '6's, as well being more likely able to hit multiple units) then yes, Burnas would do fanfreakingtastic just sitting inside.
I had a point in there some where.. but I just woke up (late night on Vassal ^-^) and lost it.. maybe I'll find it at the bottom of a cup 'o coffee..
At any rate, I voted Nobz. They're a horribly resiliant and vicious unit, and decently affordable. If you're fielding a just a single Battle Wagon, I would rather it be a dedicated transport to allow me more room for Big Gunz and Kanz ^-^
Ah, my point wasn't drowning at the bottom of my cup.. so I suppose it's moot. Cheers!
I've recently become a fan of this thing called Dubstep. And you should too.

Da Moo Kowz is da drinkinest Orks of dem all!
Nor did I insult your intelligence. He asked for an opinion, you gave one, but you also said a factual statement in your opinion that was wrong! lol Saying 'nobody would invest in more then 5' is a factual statement and not opinion. And your fact is wrong so I was just correcting the wrongness.
Now your opinion of 'if they choose meganobz then they fumbled' is an actual opinion. I was just merely providing you with some factual reasons as to why your opinion should not be so biased, or rather, reasons why you might want to have a less biased opinion as others are obviously very successful with the unit!
Hope this clears up some things here! I by all means don't care much about getting angry on a forum. I have from time to time, but more or less, orks are a place of fun and smashing. They are not nearly as serious as daemonhunters. lol *makes a serious face* Look at me, this is my serious face!!!
Anyways now that I've possibly confused you, hope this helps!
