Ok, I created my Tau army with a less than codex'd style of play. They're pretty much Tau supremacists lol. They Don't like the idea of other species being integrated into their vast empire, so they were exiled and blah blah blah. Now, i abhor the Kroot and Vespid. So seeing that the Kroot is really their only hand to hand type combat squad, I decided to come up with something new.
My Inferno Guard is a bunch of converted ethereals wiht the honour blade as main weapon but also (i'm still debating) a pulse pistol. So, neverminding the story and backround i'd appreciate any input/constructive criticism you wargamers have to offer.
I tried to make the stats similar to Kroot, so here goes...

So do you think the stats are too off? and if so any advice on correcting them?

I know its pretty weird to eat people...
the only problem ive got with it is S & T 4? and for the 'ui S5? these are tau remember they are very fragile so unless theyre genenectly modifiyed they wont ever be this tough but if you adjust this they would proobliy be good
alsoif they could still eqiuped grenades then that would be cool to

Tau and close combat? you nuts man! you nuts! they the shootiest!
for that matter, kroot arent all that CC'ish either =p
so, since i personally love Tau for their shooting, i have to ask, why do you want them to CC =p
btw, i hate kroot too! no kroot in my tau force! not now, not ever!

I really like an all tau looking army and have made Tau conversions for kroot and vespid. I like guard in my Tau though for some reason.
Anyway, for the statlines you have, the point cost per model should be more then 10 points. Also, if these guys are going to have strength and toughness of 4, they need to be modelled to be in some kind of suit. I am sure you could make something about stealth suit sizre but thats the only thing I could see giving them the increased stats.
Yeah, for starters, they're going to have to be more than 10 points a piece. Other than that, one of the most consistent design "rules" Games Workshop has always followed when designing armies is to keep the Strength and Toughness scores as racial constants, barring significant gear (such as battlesuits). If these guys aren't in XV8s, then they're gonna have to have a basic 3/3 statline, though something like furious charge wouldn't be out of the question. I mean, look at Space Marines. Regular ones, Scouts, Terminators... they all have the same statline. Same goes for nearly every other race (once again, barring significant gear).
you could keep the S4 if they had like a converted version of the stealthsuit and then the 'ui could have like a converted version of a crisis suit to keep S5 and T4. also maybe just make a rule like you can only have 0-1 or 0-2 of these units. throw in the grenades and maybe some pulse pitols and hey you almost got a tau space marine.
