Before I even start I am ordering from FRP Games so everyone can know why I list lower prices. (Heres the link: FRP GAMES - Your Hobby Gaming Source) Also I am on a $210 budget
Ive got two ideas:
1. Idea One
-Genestealer Boxed Set
-Guant Boxed Set x2
With $29.80 left over
48 total guants
2. Idea Two
-Battle force x2
-Geanstealer Boxed Set
Total: $ 197.20
With $12.80 left over
32 Total guants
So which would you guys reccomend? Or would it be better to get something else?
I like the second option better. You never have too many carnifexes, and I love warriors myself. Plus you save more money that way.
I too agree with the second selection. Gotta love warriors. they are a truely wonderful unit. But just as a sugestion ya might check out ebay too. sometimes you can pick up the old assualt forces boxes for under the price you are saying ya need too. Or being what the econemy is today alot of people are selling there armies to pay bills. Just a idea. But again going with the second option is a good one. Never too many warriors or carnifex's. good luck and welcome to the world of tyranids
I'd go with the second also. Much more options for different builds. I'd also get a tyrant for a more rock-solid HQ choice.
Here they are a bit cheaper. The shop is in the UK, so if you're far from there it may take a while to reach you, but they send it anywhere for free. The second option would cost you 165.77$, less than what you said the first costs you.
HANDS DOWN 2x BATTLEFORCE. Only way to fly. unlike other armies, with their garbage battleforces, the nid force only comes with useful models, not some bunk that will never see the light of battle. And then on the HQ front, def. a tyrant or lord or something.
also I recently bought about 16 stealers from a bit order site, bits and kits, for less than 80 cents a piece, minus the arms, heads, and bases, which can be bought for a couple of bucks. just some food for thought.
For the record, the Necrons also have a great Battleforce.
I too would say the second is the better option. Normally I would suggest getting the Assault brood instead of two Battleforces, but for whatever reason their assault brood is way more expensive than I've ever seen one, compared to a battleforce. If you can go over by less than 5 dollars I would recommend also purchasing a Broodlord. It's a great HQ to start with, and you can pick up a Tyrant later. Or perhaps drop the 'stealer box set and pick up a Hive Tyrant and barely go over budget. If you want to stay at 210 I would simply advise getting one of them quick as you can. While Warriors are awesome, they just can't take the same kind of punishment as either of our other HQ's, nor can they stand up to most other HQ squads very well.
Would say number 2.
Before you have the money you can invest in a Hive Tyrant (a must) you have 6 warriors as HQ and synapse which will make them more resilient on the battlefield OR you can actually split them into two groups of three and spread your synapse. Without synapse your Gaunts won't do much. Genestealers are more independent and will rule in HtH but are fragile and top priority for your opponent to kill so don't expect them to survive long (also in your second option you won't have 16 Stealers, you'll have 24).
Carnifexes will be the backbone of your army so having two is a good beginning, but look into buying a Hive Tyrant asap.
Good luck with your new army!
Looking at Maelstrom Games, for £141.12 (according to Google equivalent of $210.5) you can get
2 x Battleforce (6 Warriors, 32 Gaunts, 16 Genestealers and 2 Carnifex)
1 x Gaunts Box (16 Gaunts + ripper swarm)
1 x Hive Tyrant
That would I recommend as starting point. After that look into some more Fexes, Zoanthropes and maybe a Broodlord if you're into Stealers. Raveners could also be an option but they're a bit more expensive.
