Welcome to Librarium Online!
So, about a week ago me and a friend of mine played the same Tyranid player (not on the same day). We both found that there were major inconsistencies with the rules in both games, and I just wanted to run them by the experts. I could tell what was false for the most part, but for some reason I didn't feel it neccesary to call the player on it and start an arguement in-game.
1. The points - The game I played with this guy was 1k, but I have a feeling he had much more. His list was as follows (roughly):
Tyrant (Forget the equipment) w/ 2 Tyrant Guard
Two units of five warriors, one with rending claws, the other escaping my memory
2. The Warriors - As you can probably see, this man had no troops. He assured me that Warriors could serve as troops, but I doubt it. There was also the fact they were hitting on 2s with shooting (pretty sure I DID call him on that).
3. The Lictor - I'm not too familiar with the Lictor's rules but this just seemed wrong. Turn one, he rolls a die, gets a four, and places his Lictor on my edge (no terrain around).
4. The Dakka Fex - The player said this guy was also rolling 2s to hit with shooting. I'm not sure, because it did have a biomorph.
5. The magical 2+ Invulnerable (Saving the best for last) - Yes, this one was my personal favourite and the one I was the most sure of in its falicy. Thirty Boyz versus the Crusher. The boys attack, some wounds get through, normal saves. Nob attacks, two plus invulnerable save......
By this point I had had enough, but lucky for him, he had to leave. Sorry if this was I bit of a rage, but I just had to get these questions answered. Thanks to all in advance.

The Immortal Sons of Change (VC): 3-1-1
Invite that guy over for a game and hit him with a baseball bat.
Seriously that guy was wrong on all counts. Warriors can count as HQ but not troops. Lictors are placed in reserve and act like any other deep striker, they can't show up first turn and when they do they must pop out of terrain. The best a dakka fex can hit on is 4s but I think their twin linked. The zoanthrope has a 2+ ARMOUR save and a 6+ invulnreable save.
Lets go massacre something
I am a sexy shoeless god of war!
Wow. I have to say I'm kind of in shock that someone would stoop to that kind of level. Truth be told as far as points go, he might have been under 1k, but that's just bad sportsmanship gaming. Best any of our guns, not on the Hive Tyrant can hit is on a 4+. Tyrant can get to 3+ with an upgrade. Carnifexes can't even GET an invuln save much less a 2+ one. We've got 6+ standard on our zoas and can get it with an upgrade for our Tyrants. Otherwise no one else gets an invuln. As noted above the Lictor DSes as normal, BUT it can assault the turn it DSes unlike normal. That and it being necessary to DS in terrain is what sets it apart. Warriors can be HQ, Elites, or if you give them wings Fast Attack.
I hope that helps clear up some things, and next time you see him either demand to see his list, and codex before playing him, or don't play. Also hit him in the head with a book. For me.
This is sad, really. The guy was cheating all the way. I sincerely hope the guy was a very young kid otherwise I am shocked.
Honestly, just refuse to play against this player. You already paid enough money and time to get your army do not waste any more with a battle you won't enjoy (I personally try to enjoy all my games, both defeat and victory [I am not a very good player by the way but I usually get good sportsmanship score] ). Otherwise if you are likely to play a game against him, try to get a hold of the Tyranid codex (PMme) and make him learn the hard way.
Warriors can be either HQ, Elite, or Fast Attack (with a bio-morph) and the best they can hit in shooting is 4+.2. The Warriors - As you can probably see, this man had no troops. He assured me that Warriors could serve as troops, but I doubt it. There was also the fact they were hitting on 2s with shooting (pretty sure I DID call him on that).Lictor follows normal DS rules up the point of placement. Lictor must DS into area terrain and will not leave the terrain if it scatters. The Lictor does have a rule that allows you to reroll reserves rolls for any other unit besides the Lictor.3. The Lictor - I'm not too familiar with the Lictor's rules but this just seemed wrong. Turn one, he rolls a die, gets a four, and places his Lictor on my edge (no terrain around).Best a fex can hit on in shooting is 4+. But a dakka fex does reroll to hit and to wound.4. The Dakka Fex - The player said this guy was also rolling 2s to hit with shooting. I'm not sure, because it did have a biomorph.I know of no model in the ENTIRE game that has a 2+ inv save (there maybe one or two). The best normal save we have in the game is 2+ and the ONLY inv save tyranids can get is a 6+.5.
If you want page quotes for everything I can supply it.

Yeah, and to Grizgran Grimgor, get those pages, and in the future, never play anyone without a codex with him. If at any time you have doubts or questions he should be able to pull out the book and prove the matter.Originally Posted by magnet_man

If he or the store are acustomed to playing quick and dirty, I can see a person forgoing rerolling to hit and just consider it a +1 to his BS.
Not that I approve or would do so myself, as twinlinking a weapon is almost always better then a 1 point bump to BS.
As of Tyranid 5th Ed. codex I have the Gaunts I wanted. I did, however, loose the sniperfexs I relied upon and they were more important then the gaunts.
