Another Variant or Similar (Please Explain)
I have been thinking about my color scheme for, I dont know, 2 months now. I still havent figured something out completely. I have been going for the sly camo look (exoskeleton would be mostly bone colored though) but I am not sure If thats the way to go.
To visualize stuff a little bit I used the DoW2 army painter and posted here a few picture. What do you guys think? Which one looks the best to your eye (of course the real thing will be a little different.)
I actually really like the brown
Then again it reminds me a little like a vicious chestnut, but I am a bit odd like that.
Dark green or possibly dark orange as far as my tastes go.
But they might be a bit conventional/ not original enough, I won't fault you if you go with something more colourful.
I like them all but i think the dark green is the best. All but the light orange give me a dark and dangerous feeling. The light orange seems to warm and friendly for a tyranid.
Bright orange! I like fluorescent colors on nids.
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.
Voor alle nederlanders:
The Dutch Legion
In nature all things dangerous have vivid warning colours eg Red-Back Spider, so i personally think the light green or that bright red chitin, however you do need a pretty decent contrast to pull it off well; Bright red carapace with bright blue bone structure might look jsut a bit odd
Mmmm... Biomatter... OMNOMNOMNOM
The Great Devourer, Intergalactic Munchies coming to a planet near you!
Dark green all the way!
Just a side thought; Kaannn points out that in nature things have warning colors. But since tyranids are A) from another galaxy and possess engineered evolution, I think the hive mind would see fit as to fix that little give away.
Anyways, back on track, I think the dark green is the most intimidating!
I would think units that are supposed to stay hidden would be camo, while those that are meant to be seen would be bright and colourfull.
For me, gaunt shield = bright.
Lictor = cammo.
As of Tyranid 5th Ed. codex I have the Gaunts I wanted. I did, however, loose the sniperfexs I relied upon and they were more important then the gaunts.
If the main exoskeleton colour is set, then you've got a toss-up between dark green and dark orange for your carapace. Much as I love a bright carapace (I don't subscribe to the theory that all nids should blend in to their surroundings) the bright choices you have there just don't fit.
