Welcome to Librarium Online!
Whith the release of the new Guard codex I have been given the chance to update my Human Auxilliaries with some new reinforcements.
At the moment I have mainly kept them in a light infantry role with all of the heavy weapons assigned to a Heavy weapons platoon, but I am considering to completely revamp the force so that it will have
-3x Storm Trooper units (elites)
-4x Veteran Squads/Grenadiers (troops)
-2x Infantry Platoons w/ 5x Infantry Suads (troops)
So far, I am unsure of what else to take, I would like to keep to the same doctrines as the Tau but I would like to go for the SAS approach of Suprise, Agression and Speed.
But I would also like to keep all heavy weapons seperate from my troops, keep them on vehicles and such.
The way I was thinking was to take a full squadron of Armoured Sentinal for close fire support for the Infantry and take a Devil Dog squadron and a squadron of Vendetta Gunships to take out any armoured units and to provide covering fire and quick transportation. Also considering placing 3 units of grenadiers in the vendettas' and placing them in reserve to give my opponnents a suprise.
So any recommendations/tips/tricks would be grate, thank you.
So this looks to be a human force that works separate from the main Tau cadre but under a shas'el/'o or Ethereal's command.
It could be interesting to have a varied but complementary role to most tau forces. Tau forces are fast so the human cadre will need to be fast to keep up, check, you seem to be going that rout.
Most Tau attacks are of a hit and run nature until they can bring over whelming force on a weekend opponent(this is my understanding of how they prefer to fight).
So the air cavalry style you seem to be leaning toward would work well as part of a killing blow or as a "distraction" for other missions.
Keeping heavy weapons on your Valkyries and other vehicles would be good fluff for a air mobile/light infantry army. That doesn't mean that you should skimp on special weapons. Also scout sentinel with cammo netting are popular as heavy weapon support.
Good luck Gue'vessa
The Tyranid torpedo? Its a giant facehuger cannon. It fires an army of facehugers at the other ships. It should cause fear.
Thanks for the reply,
First off, as I mentianed before I'll be going for the SAS approach of Speed Aggression and Suprise, which in it's self suits the Tau way of war, but I may also try to improve on this further by adopting the Mont'ka or Kauyon methods or even switching from one to the other in the middle of a game (which will be tricky to pull off successfuly).
As for special weapons I'm deffinatly haveing one for each of my platoons armed with sniper rifles.
For the air cavalry concept, I wasn't leaning towards that method intentially, I was going to stick them in reserve with 3 of my grenadier vets. mounted in them and once they come out I was going to use them to drop of the vets. on key objectives and use the vendettas' to mop up any armour that was left and to provide cover fire with the heavy bolters.
Another part of this cadre is to join my current Tau hunter cadre along side a 3rd cadre I have waiting to be assembled so I can field a small contingent for larger games.
Lastly, I'm not keen on the scout sentinals as I don't see them surviving long, I admit that the armoured sentinal wont survive long themselves but their survivability a lot more than their lighter brothers. I must also admit that not much of this force will survive long but aslong each does it's assigned role and the overall objectives are met then I will be pleased.
Ever since I made my human aux's I have been slowly working on an Imperial Guard army based on being a human auxiliary army. I would like to make some sentinel/crisis suits. Working on the idea. Definitely will be using valkries as I feel they work well with the Tau doctrines.
I will be adding a lot of commisars but will actually use a Tau FW to represent them. I already made one and I think it looks pretty good. Kind of like ethereals for the guard army. The fluff I will go with when they have to do a summary execution will instead be a guard sacrificing himself for the greater good.
I have few other ideas on what I want but just got and am reading the new IG codex now. This army will definitely be molded for fluff and not necessarily made to win.
On the upside, in Apoc games, I can easily ally the two armies which was also one of the reasons I want to do this.

Same here, fluff was one of the major parts of this army.
For your sentinal/crisis suit conversion, that did pop into my mind but I haven't realy gone into any more depth with it but I suppose it could actually be represented pretty well with the armoured sentinal stats and some basic conversions, it would add a nice corner stone for the army fluff aswell as it can represent a basic crisis battlesuit gifted to the humans for their loyalty I suppose, I'll have to meddle about with some converting.
But for the commissars', I must admit I didn't even consider them as they are way out of fluff, yor idea for them is actualy pretty good, but instead of going along the lines of ethearal you could say that he is a veteran who has worked alongside human auxilliaries for a long time and has forfeited the use of a crisis suit to 'help' guide the humans along the path of the greater good and say the Summary Execution rule is that he is executing those who are found to be traitors who do not beleive in the greater good and are passing on information to the enamy.
You seem to have a couple of good ideas there and I'll have to have a think about them and see were I go from there.
Again thenks for the reply guys.
I've been out of the 40k loop for about two years now and just now getting back into it. It is my understanding that Human aux aren't tourney legeal, is this true? If you can, where can one find the rules for your human aux?

Imperial Guard = Soviet Army? Me thinks so.
That is true. You cannot come to a tourny with a Tau army and some Leman Russes.

Hrmm, got to figure out what to take. I want valkries and sentinels but both are in fast attack (just got the IG codex)

No you can't take human auxilliaries with a tau force to any tournaments, but that wont stop me as this auxiliary cadre is actually a standard guard army, just with some different fluff and some good conversions.
Now the basis of this auxilliary cadre is to form a battle line alongside other auxilliary cadres' in larger games so the Tau hunter cadres' can be left to there way of war
Once this force is done I'll be moving on to a second human force, a kroot force and then a second tau mechanised force so when I play an apocalypse game it should be quite impressive, if only from a fluff point of view.

Well you can take 3 valkyries and 3 sentinals for only 2 fast attack slots
