So I was giving Forgeworld a look and came across a Remora Drone here. It looks freaking awesome! Has anybody successfully used one of these? I think I might get a hold of one even if it isn't a competitive model.

- Never underestimate the power of human stupidity.
I have a couple too. They're flyers though, so you would probably need to get your opponent's 'ok' before using them.
There's only a single Networked ML btw, but there's a Targeting Array as well as what haddatt mentioned. They're nasty little beggars as it happens: being flyers they are hard to hit, particularly when you add in the SFG effect, and they are missile boats as well as mobile ML carriers. The long-barrelled burst cannon is ok, but it's their speed which appeals to me. In Apocalypse games these little guys can be placed in rear armour arcs and with 3 shots upped to BS4 with an NWML hit they can cause consternation for Leman Russ commanders!
Once their Seekers are gone, they are a bit of a Flying Gun but that NWML is useful.
The other thing about them is that the models come in packs of two. They've a 6" (15cm) wingspan (roughly) and are about 4" (10cm) from back to front. And yes - when they're painted they do look the part.

I think Remoras are pretty awesome looking - not currently in the rules though, unfortunately.
However, it is on my wishlist for the next codex... Could you imagine how great of a Fast Attack choice they would be? They're like mini-Skyrays. Only thing they would need to change to fit in with the basic rules is to make them a skimmer rather than a flyer.... works for me.

I have a Remora that took out my friends SM dread with a rear seeker that was sitting on an objective in the last turn our last game. So far I feel that they are slightly overpriced pointwise but its a cool model. Competitve play, im not sure id bring it yet if it was allowed, but its great fun just to have it in a play game.

How big is the wingspan on that?

I started tau because of the look of drones. Now that I've discovered Forgeworld drones I'm greatly pleased. Shouldn't be that much of a problem to convince people to let me use them. I also noticed they make heavier drones with twin linked burst cannons. Sweet!
