Right now I have:
1 Hive Tyrant
I was wondering what I should add. I usually face Imperial Guard and he uses 3 Leman Russes consistently, so keep that in mind. I have about $200 to spend.
I was thinking some Tyrant Guard, 3 Biovores (for the tanks), and another box of guants, but beyond that I have no clue.
Appreciate the help!
Biovores are a very bad option, i will take 3 zoanthropes for the lemans
BEST ARMY APPEARANCE AND OVERALL WINNER OF A LOCAL GW RTT (29-7-06) GODZILLA/CHOIR 2K ARMY LIST
The Zoanthrope has warp field, giving them a solid armor save. Plus use cover as you close to make sure you get a save regardless. They also give you overlapping synapse.
I agree on the boivore. Not a good choice, especially if you want them to take out tanks. For anti-tank our best option still remains the sniper-fex.
I'd recommend getting at least one battleforce box. (for 200 you could get two.) that boosts your ability to field flexible lists. Personally I'd also throw in a flyrant.
for that much usd you can get 2 carnies. Make them into sniperfexes and watch your enemy weep. A leman without a gun is just a glorified piece of cover after all and pieplates with pinning really make mush of enemy infantry. with leftover cash you can probably get another guant box too
Has anyone tried Lictors or Ravenors?
The general consensus I am getting is that my best anti armor choices are sniper 'fex and a Zonathrope. I'm still a bit worried about the Zoantrhope, because it can only move 6 inches per turn, maybe 12 if I choose to run it.
Thanks for the advice guys, I appreciate it!
You don't have to worry about the Russ moving around too much. An elite Fex might be all you need. Fairly cheap can opener. Just keep running till you're in range.
I do agree about Zoans being a good option since you can have extra synapse too.
I don't think a deep striking Lictor or Ravener can be counted on to do much vs tanks. Plus raveners can't assault the turn they come in so they'll probably die.
Honestly, one of the better things to do with a guard gun line is probably outflank a bunch of stealers since he risks blasting his own troops to pieces while you rip his dudes to shreds. The rending if it comes to that can dish out a fair bit of damage vs armor 10-11 if the opportunity presents itself.
I would personally add 2 Zoans and a battle box. You really need a sniperfex and zoan.
Tyrant guard is also an idea, but not very cost effective in term of in game points (I prefer having 6 stealers than 2 tyrant guard). Do try to add wings instead to your tyrant (incredibly useful for both CC and shooty tyrant).
They really need warpblast to work but also get a second psychic power. Synapse creature will help control your bugs and make it harder to kill. You can try psychic scream to make your opponent fail his LD tests, the three of them can combine psychic scream for huge modifyers. The other powers they can get usually aren't worth it.
Lictors and Raveners can work well. Give the Raveners rending claws so they ca penetrate more easily. Lictors can be good going after a Leman russ as when they assault it they always attack it's rear armout which is fairly poor. Raveners can do the same thing but they have to run the gauntlet of his guns and unlike Lictors can't assault when they deepstrike. That may let your opponent blast them easily.

Sorry about that, I meant Lictors and Ravenors overall, not just for AA.
I'm gonna have to pick up some Zoanthropes now, they just seem too darn good to resist from what I am reading on here .
