100 points? Or a thousand?
Do you have the Assault on Black Reach set? (AoBR) It has the basic rules and comes with a great start to an ork army. You can even trade the marines in it for more Orks.
Ghagzkhull is a monster. I suppose you could build an army around him if you want, but he's a bit over the top. The warboss in AoBR is great.
Of course, if you love the model, go with it!
It's not possible to get the official Ghazghkull model and start a 1000 point army for $70. I agree with Cossack, you should start with the Assault on Black Reach set and go from there.
Even that will only get you around 500 points at most. If you can split 2 Assault on Black Reach sets with a Marine player than you could probably reach 1000 points, although I'd use the nobz as kommandos, unless you're also willing to get a trukk for them. Never use nobz without a transport.
Of course, if you do get the Assault on Black Reach set, you could always convert/use the marine terminators as meganobz, and the dread as a deff dread. That wouldn't be the most effective setup (killa kans are better than deff dreads, and meganobz also need transports), but it'll get you up to 800 points or so.
If you're up for a conversion challenge, then one of those $10 terrain sets (the kind that come in the bags, filled with crates and barrels) have everything you need to make 3 slightly undersized, yet completely functional Killa Kans. I'll have to post a thread on how to make them later. ^_^
So either split 2 Assault on Black Reach sets with a Marine player, or get 1 AoBR set and a terrain set. That'll just get you up to 1000 points.
"Any job worth doing, is worth doing with a powerklaw."
agreed with the others - get the AOBR box and swap the marines for orks - i did this with a buddy that plays marines.
Ghaz is cost prohibitive for inclusion in my army - a normal warboss does a good enough job and is far cheaper - i spent the points saved on old zogwort - his curse is GREAT for taking out characters
If you're new and want a decent sized army with all the little extras (rulebook, templates, some dice) go with Assualt on Black Reach. I spent $60 on it, and it comes with almost 500 points worth of models (without conversions). The rulebook alone is I think $50. You'll also need to get a codex (if you don't already have one) and that should run around $20-25. If money is an issue, you can always watch ebay for cheap stuff. A lot of it is older models, but it still works all the same for the most part. Hope this info helps though!
I have to agree with everyone else, pick up 2 AOBR box sets thats like £60, soz dunno conversion rates for dollars, from those box sets u have a awesome beginner force, from there i would, if it was me, buy a nob box set to add nobs with power klaws to my force and a big mek with kustom force field, that big mek has done me huge massive wonders when fielding a force without transports, oh and lootas are awesome if they are your cup of tea............. or coffee
