I was wondering, is it worth replacing the smart missile system with twin-linked plasma rifles?
Thanks in advance.
I've put plasma on a team leader with a multi-tracker. It's nice especially if you are within rapid fire range of something.
I tend not to add plasma. Usually, by the time you are in rapid fire range of something, it's usually too late.

Personally I would prefer to use the points to gain ASS and be able to move and shoot with heavy weapons, but if I knew I were going to be facing something like a Deathwing army then I might consider taking the Plasmasides. I just feel that they are a very situational upgrade but that's purely MHO!

I find having SMS handy every now and again. So, no, I don't think it's worth it. Like the others have said, I'd prefer ASS and by the time you are in rapid-fire range of the plasma; it's probably to late.

The "A Smart Player Will..." theory is a complete paradox. If we make an assumption that everything we do is outsmarted, then theoretically we can never win.
I think plasma is way too expensive to be added to broadsides. Ontop of the cost it also gives them a bit of a new mixed role, which is really not healthy for them. When you have plasma you want to use it and really you dont want to be in the 12" range, and at 24" the number of shots you will get so few times a game wont justify the cost. The SMS is also good for taking out anything that might try sneeking up on you very heady on a long range anti tank unit.

Not worth the costs, when the new codex came out, I ripped the Plasma Rifles off my models and put the Smart Missles on with the ASS. Cheaper and allows you to move and fire, which lets you get by one of the chief complaints of the Broadsides not being too mobile.
