Welcome to Librarium Online!
Previously I had listed my 1500 point list that was created by using my force generator located at: Cossack's Random Force Generator
Big Mek with KFF
2 Koptas with rokkits
5 warbikes, nob with PK
Nobz mob - all decked out with klaws and painboy and stuff....and ON FOOT. (Holy crap!)
20 Shoota boyz
30 Slugga boyz
I'm changing my mind about this being a battle report and instead will report on each unit's performance.
Warphead: CRAP. Total crap. He killed more of my guys than the enemy. Now he's definitely exciting and random, but if I ever use him again I'm going to keep him away from my own troops. You'd think having a reroll would help....
Big Mek with KFF: Outstanding. Saving an unbelievable amount of damage from my boyz. You guys are right about him.
Koptas: Crap. They did nothing except distract the units that killed them.
Warbikes: Again crap, I'm thinking these guys are only good as mobile fire platforms. They don't do worth a damn in an assault.
Nobz mob on foot: Rocks! Well, if the damn weirdboy doesn't teleport them at the worst possible moment. They managed to get my first Landraider kill with this army AND wipe out the Chaos lord and retinue that were inside.
Shoota boyz: Outstanding. They really deal out some dakka.
Slugga boyz: Outstanding. Not only very killy, but they take a lot of heat off of the shootas.
Deff dread: Meh, okay I guess. It drew a lot of fire but didn't get into a scrap. Busted a rhino with a rokkit, that was nice. However, it was rammed by a battlewagon and FAILED TO STOP IT.....then was promptly run over and crushed. How disappointing....
Lootas: Crap. Killed nothing. On the good side, they managed to attract a constant bombardment of S8 ordnance templates for one whole game. I still don't see why you guys love them so much.
Meganobz: Crap. Too slow, too easy to kill and strike last in hth.
Give me a warboss and his nobz and lots of boyz and I'll take on anything!
From my own experiense with the same units:
KFF is just awsome! If you like the 5+ save for the boys wait till you test it out on a battlewagon or some other vehicle... 4+ save! yeah!
MANZ needs transport! trukk or battlewagon, even looted wagon will do, as long as it have wheels!
Nobz i would say they need transport too. just a safer option to get them where you want, and even faster =D
Koptas have been bot really good and really bad for my list. They are like buzzing bees. Everyone hates them, and can really hurt if they hit! But with that mutch attention and so few wounds to use, they die quickly! sometimes even before they do anything at all. Ive learned that you need to outflank with them, or be really sure they are safe on turn 1.
Bikes same thing i found out.. they suck in close combat. But may be good at holding shooty units at bay, and i just love the 18" PK delivery system. Espessialy when its a juicy tank =D I havent tried them out that mutch, but i will not charge alot with these guys.
Boys always do the job =D
Never tried dread.
Lootas, now this unit have done alot in many battles. i even stopped using them because my opponents whined "OVERPOWERED" everytime i squished his puny units. I must say a unit of 10-12 is a good number. They do have theire issues with beeing imobile, and if your opponent know how to tackle them, they will run and die. But in general, i think these guys adds exactly what most Ork armied lack, supporting fire! Shootas do good, but doesnt have that long range. I usually deploy my lootas (atleast when i used them) into thick cover or covered by the KFF. They just need as much protection as possible. Shoot at light armoured vehicles. If there is no such thing on the battlefield, aim for the soft and squishy stuff =D
The issue I have with Meganobz can't be solved with a transport.
#1 issue is they just don't hack it against power weapons and there aren't any weaklings in the unit to use as soak-offs.
#2 is they are slow. At some point you have to get out of the transport roll dice for movement distance. Yes it is very orky, but a unit like this needs to do it's job, not watch the battle.
Regular nobz do not have these issues. I can get cheap soak-off guys for the lascannon hits, get attacks in before my opponent's powerfist and move at a reliable speed.
You are probably right about the manz. I havent really tested out either Nobz or Manz, in fact, i just started scratchbuilding my manz. I do have nobs, but lack of opponents have forced them to wait for playing. And since i hav build 3 manz, i want to try them out a bit =D
Last game i used both MANZ and a small nobz squad wth boss. My 3 MANZ managed to be wiped out against 13 boys, even without a Nob! I failed 4 saves and managed to fail the leadershiptest, and then was overrun afterwards.. and the Nobz didnt reach combat at all! So that game was a total faliure. But i suffered from bad luck, i will try the same list tomorrow. Then i will see how these two different units work up against eachother.
My experience with lootas is with a squad of 15 so I think your problem is mostly with how few you had in the beginning, not necessarily with the unit themselves. First turn I got lucky and had 3 shots each and wiped out a whole IG command squad that was in cover when my only goal was to kill the master of ordinance. After that they've performed reliably well, a squad here a light vehicle there, or just shaking a Russ so I can get that much closer without copious ammounts of fire in my face.
Just my experience of course so I'd say give them a chance and they should perform
Cool cool. Now, I dont have kopptas, but I am really excited to get them, and I am interested in what you did with them.
I am thinking this is a patient unit, coming around the outside and hiding until it can pop something big on turn 3. I like it because the paitnents just seems so sneeky in an ork army.
A round about way of asking... how did you use them, when did they die?
Hosea 1:11 - Great will be the day of Jezreel.
How did I use the koptas? Well, I flank marched them and watched them die.
Somebody's gotta die.
Thank You for these "reports"!
I have only AoBR orks, and I was worried what else I`ll need, but it seems only trukks to transport my nobz and sluggaboyz and one single BigMek that I can easily convert from a spare nob.
I have koptaz, so I`ll use them when I`ll see them useful.
I planned to convert lootaz, maybe I won`t as I cannot put them on a trukk.
