just a quick question, many armies do not automatically include the correct stats on a profile, and some do. do ork boyz get 2 attacks per round with the pistol included in the profile, or do they actually get 3 attacks per round because of a pistol + close combat weapon?
thanks for clarifying!
Ork boys have 2 attacks base. If you switch their slugga and choppa to a shoota they still keep their 2A. If you leave them as is they will get the +1 extra weapon attack.
I know it feels weird that they get so many attacks and when I charge other units I still get supprised that so few attacks are coming back at me. Thats what happens when you pick da best army!

Orks get an OBSCENE number of attacks in close combat. Yes, they get 2 profile attacks, +1 attack for the extra CCW, and +1 attack for charging (when they charge), meaning that 30 slugga boyz get 120 attacks when they charge.
Of course, you have to take into account that most CC focused units are going to strike first, the fact that Orks have a hard time surviving outside of close combat, that the new template rules make it easier for tempate/blast/ordnance weapons to hit a large number of models at once, and that after the first round of combat, their strength lowers to 3.
They're still very powerful in close combat, but arguably the shoota boyz great close combat power, comined with their impressive shooting, makes them a little more broken than a slugga boy.
In any case, the increased effectiveness and number of template weapons have evened the odds a bit. The new IG codex is particularly devastating, allowing them to fire an equally obscene number of lasgun shots in the shooting phase (I got trashed by one such army only yesterday...that's what I get for underestimating his lasguns ^_^).

it is obscene, it seemed too good to be true. its essentially 2 points per attack. most characters in 40k pay 15+ points for an extra attack.
interesting that you responded to this thread grax, i built a 1750 point army based on a suggestion you made in a thread awhile back =P
