basically what the title says do you find Mind war to be a waste of points or do you consitently take it?
well mind war is SOO useful. i play ulthwe so i have about 4-5 farseers on the board always. i always have atleast...a minimum of one with mind war. usually about 2 or 3. its great for taking out asp. champs, or powerfists weilders who can instant kill farseers.Originally posted by Heliski007@Aug 14 2004, 12:37

i had this necron player boast about how unbeatable his nightbringer was. well 3 mind wars later (one turn i might add) his nightbringer wasnt so "unbeatable" after all :o
i also find that the best mind war is in the hands (or minds) of the seer council because with augment i can pick out models that are 36" away! i widdle down the best guys in a unit and let my banshees or spiders finsih them off!

I always use mindwar on my farseers. I have taken out very strong guys with it such as the hive tyrant, old 1 eye, and the nightbringer.
yea, they do get their inv. saves, otherwise it would be way to cheap.
It's a gamble, but it can really work or do nothing.. You just have to roll high and they gotta roll low
I usually take mind war, but sometimes I dont even take a farseer at all.. Fortune is really useful as well so I end up casting that unless i need to try to snipe a power fist or something
Seer Council w/ Mind Wars & Augment + Wraithlord = GOOOOD.
Keep the Seer Council a fair distance away from the Wraithlord, and before you charge the Wraithlord into combat with an enemy unit, use an Augmented Mind War (so that you don't actually have to be in proximity with the battle) to destroy the powerfist in that squad and watch your Wraithlord wade through them like Abaddon in a kiddie pool. I never leave home without it. However, you can do this with a regular Farseer and Warlock Retinue, but you have to be closer. Sadly, I no longer have the use of Wraithlords, as I play USF. Oh well.

i think in order for mind war to be effective, you need more than one farseer (maybe warlocks for extra range). in a normal hq, there is only one farseer, and with a short range it is not that useful. in a normal hq, i would give my farseer guide.
Although he is danger of pulling up long dead posts, I agree with warsnith, Mindwar is a bit of a gamble but is far les of one when you got a seer council with a number of Farseers and some augments. I dont recall ever using it with Saim Hann, far prefer fortune
