Im having trouble with the WYSIWYG rule because i have no idea what half the wargear/guns look like. Is there a thread or website that has pictures of all the Tau upgrades/guns? Thanks.
I dont have the Tau codex, but have played my friend's army before. Arent they pictured in the codex somewhere?
(WH40K) Dark Eldar - (12,000pts) Sisters of Battle - (5000pts) Dark Angels -(3500pts) (WHFB) Dark Elves - (10,000pts) Beastmen - (5000pts) Empire - (3000pts) Wood Elves - (1500pts)
Page 53 of the Tau codex shows pictures of all the XV8 and XV25 weapons with their names. Page 57 has some for vehicles.

Keep in mind that Games Workshop is fairly lenient about you creating your own options for wargear. So long as you can point it out to your opponent and say, this is my Advanced Stabilisation system.
Also keep in mind that many of the Tau upgrades are "hard wired" and hence do not need to be represented. There was a GW article awhile back that showed some conversions. Let me look for it.
Ok, 2 hours later and I have looked everywhere to no avail.

Thanks guy. Im also looking for the difference between a shield drone and a marker drone. Does it matter?
what does everybody use for targeting arrays?

In the Tau codex, in the painted models section, they show you what some gear looks like.
Hard-wired gear are not shown on models. They are either worn as jewerly or directly planted on the FW's body ( information found in the gear section ).
An exampe of a shield drone can be found on page 50, showing Commander Shadowsun with two. Page 51 shows one among 4 ethereals.
An example of a markerlight drone can be found on page 53, with a team of stealth suits. The model only comes with the stealth suit team, but there is no reason you can't make your own.
As for targetting arrays, I use target locks/multi-trackers/bits from the commander suit box. I take pieces off and add other pieces. Just let your opponent know what they are, if he/she questions you. Not all wargear has a piece to represent it.
