are hierodules legal? can you use them in a GT or RTT? do you need your opponent's permission to use them?
I'm thinking a scythed hierodule might make a fun, (if not all that effective) alternative to using 2 'fexes or a biovore...
I specifically mean the forgeworld model. I'm aware that scratchbuilt anything is against the law at a tourney, and I also know that you can field pretty much anything at a local club among friends.
Heridules do need your opponents permission just like if you were playing an imperial guard player and he had a baneblade.
As for GT I doubt you can use one there... but amongst friends at your local store if your fielding a heridule dont be surprised if they want to field something like a super heavy tank...

as far as I know you only need permission for the warengine from FW not the normal models, though Hierodules fall into the warengine catagorie
you should have any trouble of fielding one if your having a friendly battle, I do it often with my friends and he usually deploys his gargantuan squiggoth, really nice to see those to to battle it out
on the point of fielding them at a tournie that really depends on the people who organize it though expext that you will get a "No" for an answer
BTW which version of the Hierodule do you have, the scythed or the barbed
As has been said... Best to check with the tournament organizers.
Usually FW stuff seems to be ok, as long as it doesn't have Structure/Mass Points... Meaning Hierodules are not allowed.
