hey guys im just wondering what the most effective way is to make nob squad for a 1500 footsloger army? thanks
Well, a good place to start is to make sure you have a transport for them, they'll get krumped pretty quick if they have to slog all that way. One or two power klaws is good, any more than that is overdoing it. Painboyz are helpful as well, since they let the unit take cybork, which really is a must if you're going to be using them in a large game.
I tend to find myself with a bit of spare change up around 1,500 points, and so if I have Nobz, I'll usually deck them out (as they're a great points filler).
I'd say, the most cost effective way to arm them is:
Nobz ( 250 )
+4x Nobz, 2 Power Klaws, Boss Pole
+Painboy, 5x Cybork Bodies
Five dead 'ard Boyz with a fast transport, 5+ save and 4+ feel no pain save, and enough stomp in em to put the hurt on just about anything. I do not go overboard with Power Klaws as some players do -- I've never run into a situation where 5 PKs are necessary! Let alone, where more than two wouldn't be overkill. Not to mention, it's very nice to have 3/5 Nobz strike on I4 (if they charged) to weaken the opponent, and possibly reduce the number of attacks coming your way. Also, I don't usually bother with 'Eavy Armor unless I still have spare points after equiping the rest of my army, a 5+ followed by a 4+ save tends to be more than enough for 2W models, and anything that would ignore your 4+ FNP save, would also ignore your 4+ 'Eavy Armor save.. That'd be an extra 25 points to increase the units 5+ invulnerable save to a 4+.. not really worth it in my book. And finally, Kombi-Skorchas are your friend, but only equip them on your PK Nobz, as they'll reduce the other Nobz CC attacks (as they'll no longer have a pistol and ccw) But don't waste your time (or points) with Kombi-Rokkits. Single shot at BS 2.. no thanks.
In summary, if you don't like the set up I proposed, I'd at least consider the following:
+Do not overload your mob with PKs (I might go for a third if the battle warrants having ~7 or 8 Nobz)
+Painboyz are great, as well a cheap way to enhance the survivability of your mob.
+If you upgraded a Nob to a Painboy, take Cybork Bodies, not 'Eavy Armor.
+Kombi-Skorchas, not -Rokkits!
+Boss Poles are mandatory for all units that can select one.
+Don't leave them to footslog! A Trukk with a Ram is a fantastic way to lug around a bunch of Nobz. Or, they can select the almighty Battle Wagon as a dedicated transport! Definitely something to consider if you have the points to spare.
Also, I didn't adress Nob Bikers, but if you perfer them, all of the above advice remains the same, save for selecting a transport. But whatever you do, do not equip Bikerz with 'Eavy Armor! They already have a 4+ save (warbike), so it's literally a waste of points!
And one final point worth mentioning, if you include a Warboss in your army, do not stick 'em with the Nobz -- they do plenty of stompin on their own! I'd stick him with Trukka Boyz, but would separate him from the unit when they disembark (if they fail a LD test and cannot regroup.. he's stuck with them, running away until he's off the board!)
I've recently become a fan of this thing called Dubstep. And you should too.

I second everything bossgorestompa said, especially regarding combi-scorchas. They're fantastic against horde armies.
The only thing I'd add is that 5 seems a little small to me. I'd say the minimum is 6, and you could go as high as 8. Still, it's up to you.
"Any job worth doing, is worth doing with a powerklaw."
If you're not stomping along with a warboss I would have to say that 6 with a waaagh banner is absolutely mandatory. If you lose a combat vs a large foe with plenty of attacks you will be dying, as that LD7 is quite fragile. At only a 40 point increase to the squad to get an extra 5 attacks on the charge, a pretty good chance to make all of your nobz hit on 3+ instead of 4+, and an extra 2 wounds available before you may go under 50%, seems pretty worth it to me.
Personally, I'm rather a coward with my nobz and like to put my warboss with them. Maybe I'll try putting the warboss in with a unit of trukk boyz for a game just to see how it flies.
