At my club no one bases thier weapon platforms (i do though ) and i was wondering do you and how do you.
no. i dont. why bother? they are easier to transport without bases. plus when you buy the blister it doesnt even give a base and im not gonna buy a mess of them to base when i dont need to.

like salamander said there is no point. it works unbased so there is no reason to give it a base. I have seen one based, the guy used a small base with half of a flying base pole thing. It looked good, but i personally dont feel like wasting the money and time on a stupid wep. platform.
If I ever get good enough at painting to head to a GD, then yeah, I'll shell out the cash. But honestly, it's not worth it just for friendly games.
I had the same problem with my IG bases.
I didn't get any bases with the hvy. weapons platforms so I looked for alternatives.
You know those circular lid thingies you use to cover unused electrical outlets? Look around your house you might find some.
There is a standard size of those that is the exact size of the GW large base. You can use those as your base and then just give it a simple basing.
The lids are cheap and if you use a simple basing technique (I talk about this in my Urban IG painting guide) then you'll have a nice base in no time.
Here are some pics of the lids.
Hope it helps.

they seem a bit to large for the heavy weapon platforms, but almost perfect for the support weapon platforms. Thanks alot protocon. ill go dig around my house for one.!

I usually get spare bases in my blister packs, so I put them on those, just for the hell of it.
You cannot win, for to fight us is to give us power.
Remember the Rippers(tyranids) noone uses? and the second set of clear "floating sticks"(as i call them) that come with Screamers(ChaosTzeentch). well i just slap the ripper base to the clear stick and super glue my platform to the stick, and TA-DAA a based grav platform.
I use the typical round base with a small-1/2 -piece of the rod off the flying bases.
Looks kinda neat.

I think it looks great and prefer using them. Recently I've gone 'base-crazy' and put large bases on my termies, extra large base on my wraithlords and thinking of enlarging the Avatars. The grav platforms, however, I've always used bases with (very large ones).
Check the latest battle report (Biel-Tan). Doesn't it look great?
