I recently decided that I had too many Necrons Warriors and not enough Flayed Ones for my army. So I decided to hack up a few Warriors and start converting.
I know this could go in the painted or conversions forums but I really just wanted to show this to a group who may find the images helpful. I know when I set off to make these conversions it was hard to find examples of completed models. The tutorials seem to end with ".. and then you add green stuff and paint them". In my opionion the hardest and most important part is the green stuff work. The flesh work really makes the model and gives the uniqueness the Flayed Ones have.
As far as the claws go I just used old credit cards and green stuff. I don't think they look great but I really just wanted them to be sturdy and about the right size. I used quite a bit of super glue to hold the claws to the hand and then trimmed the glue with an exacto knife after it dried.
Anyways, in the pictures below you'll notice the models on the ends are the original GW Flayed Ones and the three in the middle are the conversions. The two on the right are painted green to represent Ork flesh.
As always comments and feedback are appreicated.
The GW Flayed one on the left has a smaller claw because it is from a Necron Lord.

Those guy look really good, about how long did it take you to make those guys anyway?
Thanks everyone for your feedback.
Hmm.. I'm not really sure how long it took, let me try to break it down in time per model:
-Cutting up Warrior and reassembling in new pose: 10-15 min
-Making claws and green stuff hands: 10 min
-Green stuffing the flesh: 30-45 min
-Painting: Who knows, this will vary depending on how much time you want to spend
I think if I do this again I will be able to do it quite a bit faster knowing what I know now. Good luck with your conversions!
I actually like your converted ones better than the original Flayed Ones, really good job.
Necron Army Building Maxima: Beware of Phase Out
I especially like how they're doing some synchronised flaying dance in the pics!
little bit older thread but i'm right in the middle of doing this same thing
my goal is much what you have achieved here, trying to get the right poses. all of the other conversions ive seen, the poses were pretty lack luster.
my only gripe with yours is all of your claws are spread out like wolverine, the GW ones tend to keep their claws closer together but hey that's a personal preference thing
i've never worked with green stuff before and as im waiting for it in the mail could anyone give me some tips on making the skin out of it? i was planning on making a big flat square of it,cutting some ragged pieces then draping it over them. do i have to glue the green stuff? or does it just adhere to plastic?
@ Kelter Skelter
The greenstuff will adhere to the plastic, just press it down a bit. If for some reason it come off then glue it back on, but that shouldnt happen.
