Are they still ok to run naked?
as 8x3 Genestealers
Both scuttlers and feeder tendril are real comp killers when mixed with 3 - 4 monstreous creatures. But can the 3 groups hold their own? maybe put +1 save on them, but i will most likely have 3x20 or so Termagaunts with them.. atleast 3x16..
Genestealers with no upgrades have the advantage of being cheap so a fair number of them can be used easily. Feeder tendils is a very nice biomorph because it is so cheap. It also makes the Genestealers much nastier and also any Tyranid near them will get nastier too. Gaunts can be used to provide the cover you need. But if you want the Genestealers to be tougher extended carapace will help out.
I think it depends on who you are fighting. Scything talons are very good against Marines but you don't really need them to kill Guardsmen. Acid maw is a good one too as it lets you reroll to wound and will enable you to rend more. I think that if you want to dish out biomorphs most Genestealers can do well with about one cheap one or one more expensive one. A brood here or there can get several.
You can run them naked, but i'd recommend giving them feeder tendrils. It's one point, and it makes them better at killing stuff.
8 Stealers w/ feeders: 24 attacks, 21 hits, 10.5 wounds, 3.5 rends.
8 stealers normally: 24 attacks, 16 hits, 8 wounds, 2.6 rends.
It's not a massive difference, but for one point you can't go wrong.
