I am a new player to he Warhammer 40k but do play Fantasy. I have started the Tau and am not sure where to go from, I have:
2 Fire Warrior teams with pulse rifles, a marker light for each team, hard wired drone controller, 2 marker drones for each team, bonding knife.
1 Missile Gunship with 6 seeker missiles, 2 networked markerlights, target lock and 2 burst cannons.
1 Tau Crisis Battlesuit Commander but i do not know what weapons to put on it and also do not know what they are called I need immediate help.
I want my army to be baced on killing Space Marines. I hate them because everyone collect them so i need immediate help thanks
Okay so you'll need to pick up some kroot and hounds. If you don't want to buy the kroot hounds blister pack get the chaos warhounds box. It comes with 10 models and costs around $25 (depending on where you live). That should help out.
Play a few games to get a feel for the army. That should give you a sense of where to go.

i think xv8's will serve you well, and if you magnetize them like what kusou said you will be able to swap weapon load outs. i quite like the helios suit (plasma rifle and fusion on a hq with 2 bodyguards, targeting arrays, hard wired multi trackers) this is a rather expensive unit that can dish out a lot of pain, and thay suit my aggresive play style :-), the good all rounder is the fireknive (plasma, missle pod and any support system you want, usually multi trackers) you should check out some of the stickied threads they will be a great help (sorry would do a link but im useless lol ;-)

1. You need to drop all those markerlights, on your FW teams, as the ML will just be enough. You could give them 1-2 gun drones, to try and slow down any assault troops. The bonding knives are helpful.
2. Give your Skyray the pair of burst cannons, targeting array, multi-tracker, and disruption pod. You want to keep your Skyray out of any enenmy fire-arcs, and the added BS will help the seekers hit something.
3. For your HQ, take a Shas'el with missile pod/ plasma rifle/ targetting array/ hard-wired multi-tracker. You will have a cheap HQ, has the same BS as the more expensive shas'o, and has the firepower to hurt those dang SMs and AV 12 vehicles.
As for other choices, you have quite a few. Take a squad of Kroot with hounds, a team of pathfinders for th eextra markerlights, a hammerhead with railgun... Make up a list, and try it out. You can also post it in these forums ( the thread for Tau lists ), and be sure to read the guides at the top of these forums. Those helped me quite a bit.

I would fill up your elite squads if I were you. Either get 3 units of crisis battlesuits or a combination of crisis and stealth. They are must haves for a tau army.
Then I would consider moving the marker drones from the firewarrior squads to the elite squads. Mainly because the markerdrones do not benefit from the relentless rule when attached to a firewarrior squad.
tHANK YOU FOR THE HELP I AM GETTING A PATHFINDER SQUAD FOR THE FIRE WARRIORS AND ALSO SO I CAN MOVE THE MARKER DRONES
I AM GETTING A ELITE BATTLESUIT SQUAD MAYBE 2 AND AM THINKING OF A HAMMERHEAD UR THOUGHTS ON THAT PLEASE
Hammerheads are always good. However buy the Skyray box instead, it comes with all the bitz to make a Hammerhead, Skyray, and devilfish.
