Welcome to Librarium Online!
i am entering into a tournament in a few months and the points limit is 1750. now ive had a lot of success with my present 1500 point army and i was wondering if anyone has any ideas on what to fill out the extra 250 pts.
my army is as follows:
-2 squads of DA in waveserpents
-1 footslogging DA sqaud (to hold/camp objectives and the such)
-1 sqaud of banshees in waveserpent
-2 fire prisms
now, heres the issue. i personally dont think i have enough dedicated anti tank. sure fire prisms work but theyre hardly reliable. and the EML on the WS even less so. so a couple options i was thinking was;
-squad of shining spears with another autarch on jetbike with laser lance
-fire dragons in a wave serpent
-third fire prism (but im hesitant to think about this)
-or a vyper squadron with brightlances.
so yeh, everyone throw in the 2 cents and combos that you reckon will suit the list.
When in doubt, more Bloodcrushers
fire dragons, fire prism, forge world wave serpent upgrade kit.
and you have a little fexibility for 15$ more
6 fire dragons in a Falcon at 211 points total.
That gives you enough anti tank on your list then with the Pulse laser on the falcon and the 6 fire dragons zooming around within it.
and theres 39 points to work with then. Pop on another EML or BL if you can get the points. (might want to get holofield or spirit stones first though)

I have always been a crazy fan of Fire Dragons, so I vote them too. Stuff 6 of them in a Falcon and you can take out just about any non-Monolith vehicle.
Take 10 of them in a Wave Serpent and you can really destroy anything in the game from Terminator Squads to a 'squadron' of three Leman Russes.
Don't get another Fire Prism and don't get Vypers.
Definitely don't get Shining Spears.
Note that Wave Serpents and Falcons are transports and yet respectabe at an anti-tank role alone.
I did not suggested the falcon but the fire prism cause if you have you way with pinning/clamps you can easily make a falcon from fire prism with a little converting. But only if you know how to handle conversions of plastic and metal pieces together.( the glueing/pining these is horrible).
Also i`m more of a fan of 6 dragons in a wave serpent because of increased survivability and more reliable firepower ( for the most expensive slot i will always prefer 1 twin linked shot of bright lance for 2 pulse laser/1 bright lance at bs 3 and this example is when we do not move fast which will not be real in 95% of situations on the battlefield.
Back up a minute, did you say fire prisms arnt reliable? What exactly do you mean? And what exactly do you mean not enough tank? What weapons are you putting on the WS? They are one of the few ways to get twin linked weapons in eldar, I always put either BL or EML on it. 2 prisms, with a serpeant with a TL BL and 1 with a TL EML and u even have a third serpeant with a weapon of your choice. That is alot of anti tank power in my opinion, unless you are trying to take down every single vehicle on the first turn, that should be enough.
Anyway, What I would do first is put a dooming farseer with the banshees, if hte banshees arnt 10 strong, then id make them 10 strong. Exarch for sure.
Dont even think about putting BL on vypers. there are way better options.
i said fire prism because are both plastic and metal are very hard to convert or make interchangeable weapons
I only did not suggest another Fire prism because 2 is enough to link for a marine killing large blast, With a falcon or waveserpent he can keep up with the mobility of his army and if he takes Fire Dragons (which appears to be everyones suggestion) he would not need more than 6 for tank hunting (if he wishes to go hunting against terminators or similar he will need more). Falcon can carry the 6 fire dragons and has the Anti-tank weaponry himself.
I would not suggest a Vyper with Brightlance, the 1 shot at their BS is not worth the points cost.
alrighty, ths is what i meant by them not reliable. they just never seem to be able to take out any tanks. yriel does most of my tank busting by swinging his beat-down-stick. all 3 of my serpents are equipped with TL EML and shuricannons. they are predominantly anti infantry, by firing plasma rounds and then firing the cannons.
i dunno, maybe its just the way i play my skimmers, but im definitely leaning towards dragons in a WS/falcon. do you guys think 10 in a serpent is overkill?
When in doubt, more Bloodcrushers
