Welcome to Librarium Online!
I bought three Wraithlords recently and when it came to building them I went with the following choices -
Wraithlord with Wraithsword
Wraithlord with Scatter laser, Starcannon
Wraithlord with EML, BL
All of the above have twin Flamers.
So I'm pretty at home with the first and third choices. Here is my question. Should I have taken a shuricannon instead of the starcannon? There were two main reasons for my decision - firstly I like my weapons to have the same range (or so large a range that it's irrelevent) as then I know exactly where I want to go all the time and never have to settle for firing just one of my guns. Secondly, despite the fact that the starcannon only fires two shots now it is still AP2 and with BS4 potentially pretty deadly.
I'm concerned now, however, that the extra cost is not outweighed by its superiority over the shuricannon.
I'd say it depends on who you usually play and how you plan on using it. Almost every enemy will have 3+ saves somewhere, so I don't think its necessarily a waste.
If you want your wraithlord to sit back in your deployment zone to protect a soft guardian/ranger squad then I'd say its good with the current loadout. If you plan on running it up with guardians/seer council/harlis then I'd consider dropping the star cannon for the shuriken cannon. You are saving 20 points that way and you probably won't have to worry about being out of range.

The Tale of Two Gamers
What I want to know is...if you bought these 3 wrath lords to put the correct gun on them for the game, or if you bought 3 cause you are actually going to field three?
You have to admit, fielding 3 Wraithlords in a low points game is HIlarious.
I want the option of fielding three, and also we tend to play a lot of Apocalypse.
If I field 3 Wraithlords over and over again then eventually all the marine players will start taking loads of crappy Lascannons and then I'll just field all Guardians. Hordetastic.
We must play a different 40K cause, lascannons are not crappy. If you think about it, the only time they are worse than bright lances is when the armour is above 13. Which is like a landraider, monolith?, than i dont know. And actually they are better than bright lances at any lower armour than 13. Becuase they are 1 strength stronger....same AP. I dont know how much they cost for SM, but the BL for eldar is actually pretty costly. but worth it in most cases.
Yea 3 Wrathlords would be scary and frustrating. But.... In apocalypse your opponent could have enough fire power to take them down.
Lascannons are no where near as flexible as missile launchers - my point was I could sucker my opponents into getting loads of Lascannons to combat my Wraithlords and then just field an all footslogging army.
I would always take missile launchers over lascannons/bright lances in games up to about 1500 points as they are just so much more flexible. I would take fire dragons in a wave serpent in case of Land Raiders.
The fact is that one is strength 9 ap2 and ML is str 8 ap 3 and a BL is str 8 ap2 Lance. lascannons and BL have the same purpose. armour busting. while a EML , yes can be used to cause a small template or a 1 str 8 shot. These have diff uses. would you shoot a krak missle at a unit of terminators? no, Would you shoot a BL or Lascannon at a squad of terminators? yes. Most people field them in a small unit as well, losing 1 is a big deal. Killing 1 is earning the costs of the cannon or lance in 1 turn. A variety between both is a good combination and my personal favorite, it gives you 3 uses for your heavy weapons. While the krak missles can be shot at side armours and transports.
Im not sure how helpful this will be, but when assembling my models I always use these little earth magnets for whatever i can. Usually tank weapons and what not. It makes the model modular so you dont have to pick just the starcannon or ML, you can switch them when you need to. Worked really well on my old Tau battlesuits.
I agree with the poster above about magnetizing. However, personally, I have a Wraithlord and I pin the weapons on it. That makes it interchangable with my War Walkers.
Your Wraithlords will be more modular that way and you don't have to spend long hours contemplating the weapon layout to glue on.
