Welcome to Librarium Online!
Im thinking of starting an Eldar army. Ive played Tau since the end of third ed. but have never really had great sucsess with them (more losses then wins).
Ive been impressed with the Eldar speed and hitting power in past games. So what im asking is this a good army choice for a former Tau player? Any comments/suggestions would be apreciated
That greatly depends on what you are looking for.
Lots of pain/tears for painting a thousand models=yes
Powerful Mechanized Capability=Yes
Walk up the battlefield and take a beating=No
Cheese Lists=Yes (3 Prisms)
Having to use strategy to win almost all games=yes
Lets see Eldar are...
Faster then Tau
More different types of units
Effective Assault Units
I think you will do just fine playing them
If you love kittens you will love http://bloodofkittens.com
that fast deffinitely sounds good to me.
I think ill start reading some more into unit choices
just remember with Eldar, nothing in the list can take a hit (well apart from the wraith lord), so they always need to be doing the hitting. Wave serpents are your friend...
also is cover and distance and strategy and concentration of firepower and flanking and and and....
Hight elf and Craftworld Eldar army project pics heavy: linky
my friends call eldar overpowered. they were my first army and i love every second of them. some of their units are so good it should be criminal, and farseers make you laugh at the dice gods. unless you "pull a shimmy" as my friends call it, and somehow fail a batch of fortuned 3+ armor saves and lose multiple expensive units to basic bolter fire, despite shrugging off lascannon wounds the previous round.
Eldar: W-26, L-4, D-2, Tyranid: W-8, L-0, D-0
I wonder if you are destined to be forgotten. Will your life fade in the shadow of greater beings?
Haha yea its always a shame when your avatar looses his last wound to a terminator captains storm bolter...unless you "pull a shimmy" as my friends call it, and somehow fail a batch of fortuned 3+ armor saves and lose multiple expensive units to basic bolter fire, despite shrugging off lascannon wounds the previous round.
Army: W/L/D -- Eldar 6/2/2; Orks 1/3/0; BA 1/1/0
The Tale of Two Gamers
Bottom line, is that if used correctly eldar is extremely tough, despite their initial appearance physically and on paper.
