So I've got my Guide-seer mechanism down pat, with it guiding my 2 Warwalkers or occasionally my DAs. So I'm now looking at including an Autarch but I'd like to sound out the community's thoughts on where he'd be most effective.
My list is as follows: 16 Storm/Defender Guardians 2 Heavy Weapons Platforms 2 War Walkers 10 DAs 6 Banshees (with exarch) 6 Fire Dragons (naked) 2 Wave serpents 2 Fire prisms and my Doomseer. I play a surgical strike approach with fire discpline taking out key units and denying various lanes of advance then I follow up with my serpents to deliver my banshees and fire dragons to slag or destroy any other key units before the rest of the army move to mop up the remains.
I want to include an Autarch mainly for fluff purposes and did consider putting him with my 'shees but figured that'd be over powered sonce they already shred most Marine or Nob units I send them at in the first phase of combat. Where else would the points be effectively spent? (I usually play 1000-1500 ).
Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance.

reaper launcher with defender guardians. kit him if u have points with mandiblaster and power weapon/scorpion chainsword.

Id do either
A. Get 10 DA, Exarch, PW/Shimmer or Dire Sword, Blade Storm. Defend, and put the Autarch here with a Fusion Gun . PW and mandiblasteres. Get out of a serpeant, Bladestorm, Assault.
B. Since the banshee unit is only 6 strong, give him a power weapon, any shooty weapon, mandiblasters. Also make sure the doomseer is here too. This unit is tough, but its putting all your CC eggs in one basket, Be careful, happy slicing and dicing.
Take an avatar or another seer instead as autarchs are a really weak hq choice, or if you must then use yriel (or a counts as if you dont want to be his group of eldar).
Yriel would do good with the any of your units, he can kill anything in the game fairly well and is not very expensive points wise.
- You must set fire to water or you will be extinguished.
I agree on the fusiongun mandiblasters powerweapon build (or yrield he really is a beast). Drop it into the DAs or stormguardians if they are being transported. Gives you a melta to hunt a tank and the powerweapon attacks makes the unit fairly effective in combat. Also having the option of putting it with the banshees to make a unit to deal with serious threats is useful.
Thanks for all the advice so far. I didn't think about the Avengers idea, thanks for that and adding him to the Banshees doesn't sound as bad now.
The reason I've ruled out an Avatar is that it tends to become a cannon magnet (sorry, still got a bit of WHFB mindset), not to mention the all metal £18 model that's pretty damn ugly. I've got one Farseer already and don't really want another for a while yet.

Well not to get off subject but, if you hate the avatar model, forgeworld makes a pretty nice one but it is again pretty expensive.
Ok, back to the matter at hand. The autarch can be used to great effect. He fills in for a squad's weaknesses very nicely I've found that my favorite place to put an autarch is with warp spiders to boost their close combat and tank hunting abilities. This principle is applicable with any squad however. Just think of what the squad is missing and fill in accordingly.
