Welcome to Librarium Online!
I usually never see solar pulse as one of the included wargear that necron lords possess in army lists. I thought it was pretty good. Any thoughts?
After re-reading stuff I found out it actually only applies to the unit the necron lord is in which makes it hardly worth it at all....

This is a general Necron question not an Army List, so should go in the Necron subforum
I've personally started using solar pulse every so often. The primary thing with it is that it's a single use item, and the item doesn't always even do anything effective. Having a unit count as nightfighting is potentially useful, but it will only actually work for one round, where most other wargear items work for the entire game. I find it useful when I end up playing Dawn of War, letting my destroyers fire at max range the first turn, whereas the enemy can't effectively return fire.
Other games it's pretty meh, though I think there are some applications where it would work well. Giving a unit one round of protection can be very helpful, i.e. lord in heavy destroyers giving them one more round of survival to shoot I.G. tanks apart for you, or getting your infantry (especially pariahs or flayed ones) an extra round to march without worrying about getting shot. I've used it on Destroyer Lord + wraiths in the past for sure.
