hey first lets start; with i dont know if theres a proper place to post this, and then move on.
Me and my friend are constantly battling and as of late ive been losing the edge. i think it stands 3 to 5 in his favor. He plays eldar, me tyranid. i need some suggestions to destroy him like nids should.
he always throws a farseer on jetbike, the Avatar, harlequin, pathfinders, falcons with prism cannons, and striking scorpion.
The bets place for this was probably be the Tyranid forum. Another mod will be along shortly to move it.
Rork: In the dark future of the 41st millennium there is only friendship.
Fenrir: and magic.
Kaiser-: My Little Chaos Marine, Friendship is Heresy?
As an eldar player i strongly suggest leaping. get in close combat, get fast and furious. see how his units melts due to endless swarm. i know i did
Hight elf and Craftworld Eldar army project pics heavy: linky
Niraco has it about right, of that list the avatar and the Scorpions are able to hold themselves in close combat, and against monstrous creatures the scorpions have very little that can tackle them.
The avatar is not that much to fear, he is not as tough as a Carnifex with +1T biomorph so lots of shots will bring it down.
The Harlequins get their bonus from Furious charge so you need to be careful of that, they are high I and hit and run can cause probs but they have a poor 5+ save(even if it is inv)
biggest hitters on that list is the Falcons (or fire prisms if it is the prism cannon you are facing) in which you will have a very hard time catching it as it can move <12" and still fire 1 weapon. Thats going to be a prism cannon or a pulse laser depending on whether its a fire prism or Falcon.
Ps: It should have been in the 40K Rules section
Eldar: Hakan-eth Craftworld - Lead by Head Farseer Jaraith 2500pts
Tau: Yihe'ya Sept - Lead by Shas'O Yihe'a Montro Myen Kauyon 1500pts
The really high WS of the avatar means our CC Fexs arent impressive (hitting on 5s..).
The Scorpians can be dealt with like MEQs.
The skimmer tanks.. SniperFexs and hope.
Have something fast moving (flying Rippers?) go after the pathfinders, snipers are just too big a threat of Nids as we are reliant on our MCs. If its a 2k game, experiment. I would field 2 squads of 3-4 flying rippers and DS or deploy (depends on board) to go after the pathfinders and anything else that sits around back. With their speed they can then go after other units in the rear.
As of Tyranid 5th Ed. codex I have the Gaunts I wanted. I did, however, loose the sniperfexs I relied upon and they were more important then the gaunts.
