Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hello people. First off i will say i am a Chaos player so i have not read any forums in the necron section, sorry if i ask something silly or something that has been posted here a thousand times.
Im posting trying to help out my friend who has recently got into the necron gig. He has a monolith 3 squads of warriors, a squad of destroyers, 6 flayed ones, a lord, scarabs and ofcourse the night bringer.
he has bought all this in a very short space of time and has began construction of his models and wondering what to aquire to get to about the 1500 points mark.
He likes the idea of immortals, especially since his main opponent (not me) is eldar and they seem to be nasty shooting warlocks instant killing them if he fails invulnerable saving throws. Firstly is this a good idea??? and secondly i think he said the min amount in a squad is 10 which could cost around £60-£80 i think, metal blista packs mount up in mass. Is there a way to convert warriors to immortals whilst making them look desent and not tacky, he doesnt like the idea of blowing silly amoutns of cash on a single squad, but he doesnt want anything too look tacky an likes the necron looks as they come ie metal killing machines any help will be much appreciated (on his behalf, ill be less inclined to give him any info if it means these immortals can annihilate CSM's ) thanx in advanced!!
I would say that he should buy a codex. In fact, that should be the first thing anyone buys... ever...
I've seen this done before. Its can be done for the flayed ones too.
Using the plastic warriors for Immortals is good but to get the best effect it may not prove to be cheaper, especially if he's only doing a 5 'man' unit.
An easy way is combining the torsos, arms and heads off the destoryers with normal necron legs, done but not cheap.
Another is useing platicard to bulf out the shoulder armour of the warriors so they llok more like the Immortals. Then just double up the guns to make them look chunkier and if you want add a face mask over the necorn head to make it look bigger.
The third option I can think of is to combine the first two options. Just use the gun and head from the Destroyer and combine it with the normal warriors with plasticard shoulders (though if you're buying destroyers may aswell just use the whole top section)
Like I said, it can be done but its probably not cheaper than just buying the Immortals themselves
Flayed Ones is easier. Get the normal warriors, do a little reposeing so they look mor animated, make plasticard claws and use green stuff to make flayed skins
here ya go looks hard but nice
Turning Necron Warriors into Immortals
is this in violation of any rule to post this link? if so just delete mod.

Welcome to the tomb Scorpion.
Immortals are a strong unit against almost any army. Their guns pack some serious punch and in a large squad, they are very difficult to take down. I can attest that buying squads of them in mass gets pricey fast, but it's worth it. The units your friend already has are a good start. Filling out a second squad of destroyers might be good though.
Have him join up on LO and we can give him more help.
Personally 15 destroyers is devastating. I find destroyers to be FAR more useful than immortals (however I do take both). I would say try to get 6+. I have 10 myself so far. The BEST way I've found is to buy combo packages on eBay. I've bought 2 batches of 3 destroyer bits for like $30. Yes, full destroyers out of box for near $10 each!
I'm sure they're still on ebay, just need to keep an eye out.

Some interesting posts people, thanx a lot.
My friend does have a codex ofcourse. He was just concerned about the cost of immortals. Some really cool ideas ill link him the sight and yopure replies and tell him to get on the site.
Much appreciated peeps good hunting in the future!
