I know the 5th edition says vehicles can now operate in Squadrons. Does this apply to the hammerhead?
Tau codex is pre 5th edition so doesn't list that as an option.
I play against a few armies where 3 hammerheads parked in the corner of a table might be handy.
Well there is nothing stopping you from parking three hammerheads in the corner of the table, you can take them as individual units.
But alas, no, we cannot take squads of hammerheads. I think an army with 9 hammerheads would be quite fun to play actually. Against Nids you could fire off 9 pie plates a turn, against IG 9 str 10 shots.
Sorry brother, three is the most we can take.
I don't care what you say. I found a lightsaber in my garage and that makes me a Jedi
I was about say that if we could, that would be broken. But would it be more broken than Lemand Russ's in Squadrons?
Thanks, that's what I thought.
I saw somewhere on this forum where someone said the faced an army with 9 wave serpent's and I though that was a litle odd (and maybe cheese).
I don't think Eldar can do the squadron thing either.
Eldar Vyper's and war walkers can squadron. With the exception of the new IG, Squadrons are usually only for the lighter, smaller vehicles.
Wave serpents can't squadron, but you take them as transports. So much as we theoretically can have 9 DF, so can they. Maybe more, I don't know which units can take or not.
Well, i think if IG gets squadroned Leman Russ tanks, the least we should get is some hammerhead squadrons! Just more cheese for the IG codex.
There are three kinds of people in this world, those who can count and those who cannot.
Before we all go off crying in our beers about not having Hammerhead Squadrons, let's remind ourselves of the rules for vehicle damage when squadrons are involved. They aren't very nice.
Do we really want to have our HHs go down that line?
"Tau Commandment #226: Participants who use Velocity Trackers in the Tau Clay Pigeon Tournament will be disqualified"
Well, if you didn't want to put your HHs in a squadron, then don't.
But 9 HHs, with a little bit of downside? Yes, please!
Squadrons of Hammerheads?
To be honest I try and avoid squadrons when I can, they have their advantages but if u squadron a tank there is a 1/2 chance of a destroyed result on a normal penetrate roll, throw in AP1 or Tank hunter and then we get a 33% Chance to survive.
