What do Orks use for anti-armor now? Specifically armor 14 things. When I fielded Orks packing enough Rokkits was enough but since I read the new Codex it's been in the back of my mind.
Rokkits can't do much to AV14, Tankbustas don't seem like they'd get the job done. Powerklaws have to hit, not always easy. Zzap Guns aren't as good anymore and the Shokk gun is wildly random.
What do competitive Ork players use to crack that Raider? Just curious. :]
I haven't fought a land raider yet with my orks but what i have learned from the ork members here is to ignore it. If you get the chanch to powerklaw or rokkit it then go ahead but Orks struggle with 14 armour.
Your best bash it to immobilize it and Then throw a few power klaws in to it. Even glance hits can immobilize it and Also if its just a normal land raider it isn't to worrying its the other variants then i would be worried all those hurricane bolters and Nasty super heavy flames.
Sorry i cant ofter much help. Hope some more veteran players can help you more.
That's pretty much what I figured. I guess if you were playing against a Raider you'd be able to wreck it's cargo anyways by just mobbing them if they peek out. 250+ points with 250ish more for the unit (typically) isn't so hot when all it can do is shoot 6 point boys.
Warbosses will get the job done. Alternatively, Killa Kans in close combat, or just get lucky with some nobz w/ klaws. Or, if you don't mind taking them (they're really not that bad in 5th ed with vehicles everywhere), throw some tankbustas into your list. With 2 tankhammers you're looking at 6 S10 attacks, then another 6+2d6 attack from each additional tankbusta in the unit. What do all of these have in common? You've gotta get close.
Powerklaws, tankhammers, killa kans/deff dreads, and lucky SAG rolls are basically the only ork weapons that can destroy land raiders and monoliths. The best way is to probably supercharge warbikes or nob bikers towards the vehicle in question, and assault them. I've also had luck catching opponents with trukks filled with meganobz, on turns they forget to move the land raider (or didn't expect the trukk to make it that far).
However, the best thing to do, as others have mentioned, is to just ignore them and focus on the rest of the enemy army.
Whatever you do, don't both firing rokkits at land raiders or monoliths. You only have a 1 in 6 chance in doing damage, and then another 1 in 3 chance of doing any sort of permanent damage to them.
If the rokkit is twin linked, then that's a total 1 in 27 of doing damage with each twin linked shot, meaning you'd have to fire 27 times before doing anything permanent. That's an entire game of shooting for a unit of deffkoptas, and almost two full games of shooting for a unit of rokkit buggies. If it's not twin linked, the odds decrease to 1 in 54, which is even worse! A unit of 30 boyz with 3 rokkits would have to play 3 full games, firing at the land raider every single turn, to get a single weapon destroyed or immobilized result!
"Any job worth doing, is worth doing with a powerklaw."
Yeah I don't even like Lacannons as anti-tank guns, it has to be S10 or get multiple dice to penetrate in my book. Not suprising the best way for an Ork to destroy a Land Raider is to stab it with his fists. :]
