Does anyone know where i can find some good necron fluff? for some reason ive become addicted to necron fluff. I would prefer GW fluff and not player made fluff. thanks, hope this belongs where i posted it.
If you've already read the Codex cover to cover, and the small section in the 5th edition rulebook, which is new stuff, then there are a few other places to check.
White Dwarfs can have really good fluff in them, but it's not a sure thing and it'll take a lot of work to hunt them down, if you have a stack of them sitting around, and you can flip through them, it is a good way, otherwise it's probably not worth it unless you find reference to a article you really want to find in full.
One really great story that I stumbled across was in an old GW magazine called "InferNo!" Issue number 20, there is an excerpt from the story in the front of the Codex. It's called "Deus Ex Mechanicus"
Other than that I can't think of any truly official GW stuff, but if you spend some time in the Black Library, you may find some great novels.
It's not really from the Necron point of view at all, but they are great books and have Necrons in some of them, I recommend the Ciaphas Cain series, especially the second book (but you may need to read the first for it to make sense)
There may be some good Online stories, but I haven't checked to be honest, and welcome to Necron fluff club, we have a health package to die for. . . . .
(Yes it's cheesy, but you'd be disappointed if I didn't say it )
read the 5th fluff and well some of it doesn't make since. Either that or the angle they are going for is diffrent than what i read before. Mentions nothing of ctan and that the necron slaughter to slaughter wtf. we are beign depicted as the bad guys!
Ekalbs....Necrons are bad guys...what part of soulless hate filled genocidal robots doesn't strike you as evil?
So far two of the Ciaphas Cain Books had Necrons, the second and..I think 5th or 6th? (title is Cain's Last Stand) Really the whole series is worth reading.
As mentioned Deus Ex Mechanicus, which is pretty good. if you can't find the copy of Inferno it's in the short story compilation "Let the Galaxy Burn" which is overall rather interesting and has some good stories, but I think that's the only one with Necrons in it.
The 6th Soul Drinker novel was about Necrons however I was personally not all that impressed by their interpretation. Unfortunately Necron fluff as a whole is a bit light. You could always check out the stuff about their ships in BattleFleet Gothic as well.
It's the first codex, published near the end of the 3rd edition of 40KBtw is the 3rd edition codexs the first and published during the 3rd edition or is it the thrid codex.
And yeah, the Core rulebook's fluff is always kinda shifty as it's designed to be read by everyone, not just us so they play up the "evil crazy zombie robot" part, but while taking it with a pinch of salt it provides an interesting look at how tombs are organized, and the roles that Lords fufill, so I liked it.
Best part of the 5th edition core book's fluff:Necrons
Eternal warriors, Souless Echoes of Hatred, the Inevitable Ones
it has already been mentioned but I personally really liked the fluff in the new rule book. It actual ly helped with my army, who are now lead by a lord with a hood and scythe and they all have hoods.
If you're really stuck there are tons of people who put out theories, that while not necessarily true can be an interesting read. A good one to look for would be "The Outsider is actually the Hive Mind."
We rode on the winds of the rising storm, we ran to the sounds of thunder. We danced among the lighting bolts, and tore the world asunder.
The Apocalypse book has some cool fluff about the command structure of a Tomb.
"The man in the bowler hat is Mr. Average in his anonymity. I, too, wear one; I have no great desire to stand out from the masses." - Rene Magritte
Necrons aren't the bad guys
They're just as bad, and just as good as the rest of the skrewed up races in 40k!
Yes, I did deep-strike your sister...
