Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hopefully you can help me out here. I am planning to put flesh hooks on my broodlord but do not want to put them on his retinue of 6 genestealers. Does the broodlord still get the benefit of the flesh hooks or does he lose the benfit of flesh hooks since the genestealers arent equipped with them. Anyways the reason I ask is in the rulebook it states that flesh hooks benefit individual models but the assault through cover section states a whole brood so I am not sure which is true.
Thanks for clearing this up.
The Broodlord will count as having assault grenades, which means he'll strike at Initiative order if he attacks into cover.
That said, you will not gain their movement benefits for the squad. Models w/ flesh hooks treat vertically impassable terrain as difficult instead, so you can pull off some wild stuff like running over building walls and other such things ... if the whole retinue doesn't have it, you can't really benefit from that aspect.
So, yes and no
Hope that helps,

As Mike said no the retinue doesnt need to have them, but its good to have them, IMO. When I run a Broodlord with retinue, I equip my Broodlord with both Flesh Hooks and Feeder Tendrils and the retinue with only the Flesh Hooks. That way the retinue gains both the benefits of striking in Inititive order and re-rolling misses.
I always take flesh hooks on any CC unit that can equip them. Not only do they give you movement benefits, they allow you to assault into cover in initiative order. Something stealers need to win.
