    What's the Raider's hull?

I was skimming a thread in the 40k general rules about the extent of the valkeries hull and got to thinking, a raider has a pretty odd shape with lots of doodads and bits, how much of the vehicle do you use as the hull? (i.e. counting as a valid target to shoot at)

See the pic from page from page 3 BRB to understand what is valid when measuring the hull of a vehicle.

Basically it is the vehicles silhoutte when viewed from directly above without anything the vehicle doesn’t need to function.

So things like blades, spikes pointy prows, crew and weapons are not the hull.

    Cheers.

Wick is correct with his example. If you look at the top-down pictures of raiders on page 27 of our codex, those are a good example of all the parts that can be considered the hull. Notice that the gun, passenger platforms, and tail section are all included.

Would really consider the tail feathers as part of the hull outline here?

If so how would you feel if you played against a ‘slammed’ Raider that had none of this modelled on it.

Personally I wouldn’t claim LOS by just having the rear wing visible.

I wouldn't count the tail fin as part of the hull.
This said, I don't attach mine these days (two of my raiders still have them)

Also the gun doesn't cound as it is stated that guns don't cound int the rules.

    Definitely wouldn't count blades.

This said. Anything you count you can also disembark from, so there is a bonus hidden in there. Something to think about.

Ya got me on the gun, but the tail seems like part of the vehicle to me. If you're getting shot at because someone's seeing your Raider's tail, it's time to find some bigger terrain!

Too bad most terrain are those dumb CoD buildings that obscure nothing because the wall look like Swiss chees with all the holes in them.

I count everything. If they can see any part of it then I count it - very hard to hide a raider when I play.

To clarify, by "fin" I meant the horizontal bit. The vertical I wouldn't feel right not counting.

That said, not counting the horzontal bit doesn't really help much ever...

One more hit to the DE, most vehicles are fairly simple to hide and to determine what is hull and what isn't, the raider is not only a skimmer but awkwardly shaped with lots of blades, fins and strange stuff on it. I like the look of the raider, just wish GW would confirm what should be counted as hull for its vehicles.
