Welcome to Librarium Online!
So I'm thinking about throwing together some sort of grot-themed army, and I'm wondering what the best way to do it would be. Should I use the ork rules and model a 'grot big mek' wearing some sort of big mechanical suit, or maybe use the imperial guard rules?
Or, maybe somebody out there knows about an old army list centered around grots.
Heck, maybe I could throw together a homebrew codex.
Any suggestions Librarium?
Ok, personally I would base it around the Imperial Guard, since it's a little more hilarious that way. Bear in mind you've got some very interesting conversions ahead of you for your vehicles, but that's half the fun.

There are a few rebel grot armies around the forums, throw out a search and see what you can find.

Quite simply this is how you do it
I personally love Proiteus's work I haven't seen much stuff by him lately, but this is argueably the bet grot army I have ever seen.
Ask me about the Black and White Space Marine on the Black and White Bike!!!
That would be most amusing, and it wouldn't be terrible with some counts-as
2x SAG Meks (Grot Oilerz rizing up)
Lootas (grot weapon teams)
It could end up a surprisingly effective shooty army.

Off Topic (but still an idea): Proiteus, have you ever considered using allied Sisters of Battle as Mega Armored Grots?
On Topic: I began designing a homebrew Codex: Grot Rebellion, but like most things, it's become lost amongst my to-be-completed list. One of my (more) brilliant ideas with the codex was Herd Runts. I'm not sure how it'll fit in with whatever rules set you decide to use, but a Grot rebellion is not complete without a unit of enslaved Runtherds. Oh how the tables have turned
I've recently become a fan of this thing called Dubstep. And you should too.
