The wankers at GW in their infinite wisdumb have arbitrated that Tau Jetpacks can NOT move 12" in the Movement phase. I was able to look at a rulebook at the GW store in Concord, NC.
Oh well. So much for that improvement.
under the new 4th edition models with them move like this
Jumppack ( assault marines, stormbyz, raptors)
move 12", assault 6" ( only when they can assault an unit )
Jetpack ( Tau )
move 6", move 6" in assault phase in any direction
well so much for the amazing improved drones. guess theyll just have to do what theyve been doing
Yeah well GW needs to stick to the game plan and quit *****ing us around. I was actually quite interested in the inproved gun dronesOriginally posted by doomygirdoom@Aug 20 2004, 20:37

Who the hell else has jetpacks anyhow?!? If the wording of the rules isn't meant for Tau, then who IS it meant for?
I may just be having a brain fart, but I coulda sworn that Tau were the only ones with JET packs.
it could be an indication that GW is planning on swapping the jumppacks from some races with jetpacks and I'm putting my bet on the Eldar
Well that would reflect their jetbike capabilities.
And over there we have the labyrinth guards.
One always lies, one always tells the truth, and one stabs people who ask tricky questions.
I asked GW about this and was told that in the designers eyes moving 6' shooting and moving 6' again is equal to moving 12' and assualting 6'. Which I have to agree with, we can move up a hill into los fire, and move back down hill out of los during assualt. For a good stratigest this is much more useful than just moving 12' before shooting. Here is an example yesterday I played an IG player. I placed a stealth team of 3 at base of hill. using the above mentioned tactic I killed about 16 troopers before he could even get a shot off at the squad. Try to use this tactic just moving 12'. Sure it would be nice to get both move 12' and 6' in assualt, but it would also be nice to have all crisis and broadside suits to get drednaught stats as was consiterd by gw. These things would cause our opponents to wail "CHEESE" every time we smaked them around even more often than they do now. Oh yea Korne sucks!

Ha ha ha I just told my brother about this topic and he goes.
"They wouldn.'t do it, it's to big of a implument (what ever that means) to be put in the game."
SO what I want to know is, you guys talking real rules for sure right? These are the offical announced rules for 4th? Cause I wanna be sure about this jetpack rule and bug my brother with it Everyone always talks rumors so I'm not sure if u r or not.
Yes I looked at the 4th Ed. rule book they have at GW Concord Mills and Tau Jetpacks move 6" in the move phase and can always move 6" in the assault phase, exactly at stated in the Tau Codex.
NOTHING HAS CHANGED.
