Welcome to Librarium Online!
I'm going to try to make a list soon and i want to know what you guys would rather take?
My main opponents are marines, tau, and tyranids
If a man wants to live let him fight, If a man does not want to fight he does not deserve to live.
Eldar: W-26, L-4, D-2, Tyranid: W-8, L-0, D-0
I wonder if you are destined to be forgotten. Will your life fade in the shadow of greater beings?
i have a squad of banshees that rip marines to shreds, power weapons do the trick, and if you doom(i think its that) the squad your attacking, then, you reroll or your failed wounds, against hordes though, the scorps r probably better, b.cause they will most likely last longer, i would say, get a squad of both. and then use the best squad for the enemy your playing, my mate, who plays marines, hates the banshees, if i get fist turn, i can wipe out his sternguards easily, i have never played tau or nids, but against tau, shees will probably work as effectively as agianst marines, that is only estimating though, nids will probably wipe out shees easily, due to str and tgh both 3, scorps will do ok agains nids,( from watching someone play).
I say Banshees. Power weapons will cut through marines and you get plenty of attacks to deal with nids.
Banshee masks gives you the initiative advantage and you get enough attacks to deal with anything.
Scorpions are good if you're needing resilience. Banshees are good, but aren't going to be much good if they're shot to bits before you can get to combat.
Banshees for Space Marines, Terminators (with a little help from a Farseer), Genestealers and the like.
Scorpions for larger, softer units such as Imperial Guard, Tyranid Gaunts or similar.
I have both and I have lists that use them according to what ever foe I'm facing. I don't usually take my Banshees when face a 'nid because I use my Fire Prisms to drop the 'stealers since they can deal with them and other, heavier targets too - no sense in doubling up unless necessary while the Scorpions to wear down and destroy squads of Hormagaunts and Termagants.
Similarly, I'll never take Scorpions against Astartes Tactical squads since Banshees and their power weapons are gold against all those nice big 3+ saves meaning they can wipe a squad out in a turn without worrying about retaliation - their fragility being their weakest point.
It's all about synergy and having the right tools for the job at the end of day.

Are you taking wave serpents?
If so, banshees. If not, scorpions. Banshee's won't do you any good if they aren't in their serpent.
It would depend on the rest of your army. Don't play it against the armies you're going against because both squads can be tailored to any army you go against, they'll have roles no matter what, but compare what else you have in your list that can make up for the squad if it isn't there. I.E. someone used terminators as an example so I'll run with that....If the Banshees aren't there, can you deal with terminators? On the flipside, if you go against a horde where scorpions can deal with that more, can you deal with horde without the scorpions? Just food for thought.
5th E Sand(Grey) Knights: 11-3 (retired) 5th E Eldar: 37-4 (retired) 5th E Wolves 5-0
Yeah i very much agree with Emp on this one, usually the eldar players around here take tons of DA's and scorps, which frustrates me because DA's are great for orc population control and so are scorps, but then they complain inscesantly about how OP the nobs with a pain boy are, when had they brought the appropriate counter (banshees or clowns) then it wouldn't be an issue at all.
With that said, most lists are usually pretty heavily stacked towards the crowd control side of things with prisms and DA's wo the benefits of the banshees usually providing more access to a well rounded list.
