Welcome to Librarium Online!
I'm having trouble beating my brother's marine list with my Eldar. While I know this is rather shameful, if anyone has any suggestions plase let me know.
My army list consists of Eldrad and 9 Avengers in a BL Wave Serpent, 10 Avengers in a BL Serpent, 6 Fire Dragons in a BL Wave Serpent, 5 Pathfinders and 3 Fire Prisms.
His list consists of 3 Rhinos with Tactical squads (2 with flamer+HB, 1 with Melta+MM) 2 Razorbacks with Lascannons, 1 with 5 Sternguard with combi-flamers, 1 with a captain and command unit, and 2 Vindicators.
He generally sets up very central, with his Vindi's at the front together, his Razorbacks on the flanks and his Rhinos behind popping smokes
i have the same problem, i can take virtually everything he puts down, but then he uses bloody orbital bombardement(sicarius i think), and can wipe out virtually everything,
to me the fire dragons dont seem to have a point, you have 3 fire prisms, which can virtually wipe out all his tanks without the dragons, i would consider dropping them for a howling banshees or dark reaper squad, the banshees can take down sternguards and can wipe out a tac squad in one turn, reapers can do the same but from distance.
if you deply first try and gain control of the centre, put your fire prisms so that anything that he puts their will get blasted to peices, get, i dont run my farseer in a squad, i run him with a warlock body guard, this is generally succsesful and with eldrads 3 powers a turn use mind war on that captain twice, it will surely destroy him, get pathfinders in cover, if you have fortifications, get em in there, they cant be killed
dire avengers, bladestorm, his marines, alsohis strenguards have different types of ammo, he will use the ap3 stuff, wipe them out first turn with 1 fire prism small blast
hope this helped a bit

First things first.
Lose one of the Prisms and get some Reapers. Against Marines they're the most useful eldar unit. With an Exarch with Fast shot and Missile Launcher, That can take out the tanks fairly easily as well (2 S8 shots that hit on 2+).
Take a normal Farseer instead of Eldrad Ulthran, save yourself a good deal of points, which can go towards a 5 man reaper squad. Also use the Farseer to start taking out some of the tanks himself. S9 + back armour of Marine Tanks = no more tanks
Speeeeeeeeeeeeeeed. Always speed. With the Serpents, as eldar skimmers, get up to a good deal of speed so you can flit from cover to cover.
Also, change one of the D.A. squads to scorpions or banshees. Shuriken Catapults do next to nothing in my experience with Marines. However, lots of power weapon attacks from Banshees make lovely Marine Tagliatelli.
The dragons have to be used fairly carefully as always, Theyre very good at taking out tanks, but then get jumped by the tanks' occupants. Personally, I don't use them that often. When I have to worry about lots of tanks and marines, I take Farseer + Warlocks, (witch Blades) 2 Squads of 5 Reapers, Vibro Cannon, Banshees, D.A.'s and some guardians with a starcannon.
Hope I helped
agains marines id prefer the tempest launcher, not for taking down tanks, but because it will destroy marines with ease

Gotta spring for some Banshees in a serpent.
- Exarch: Executioner, Acrobatic
- Serpent: Spirit Stones, TL Bright Lances
I also agree that you should drop a Prism and pick up a Reaper Squad.
You can get these points by switching Eldrad to a Farseer with Doom and dropping his Avenger squad. Then drop the Prism.
"What do Humans know of our pain? We have sung songs of lament since before your ancestors crawled on their bellies from the sea."
- Farseer Eldrad Ulthran of Craftworld Ulthwe
I would advise against taking Brightlances in this specific case. And Definitely not that many.
Only the Vindicator have an armour value of 13 in this case. against Rhinos and Razorback EMLs will be as good and they will be better against infantry.
The Fire Dragons should be able to take out at least one of the vindicators, the other might be a bit of an issue, but nothing the prisms and serpents can't handle (don't forget the option to ram if he take out the weapon.) if they can get side or read shots. You are Eldar you have to outmaneuver your opponent. From my point of view the Razorbacks are a bit more of an issue for your armor (since you should be easilly keeping out of range of the vindicators for a bit.), do you use holo-fields on at least one of those prisms?
The Rhinos shouldn't be too hard to keep away from.
Overall i would suggest to try and play a game of hide and seek. Take out the vehicules who threaten your armor and try to focuse all if not most of your power on the same flank at a time (use his own vehicules to deny line of sight for the opposing flank's Razorback if you can.) Starengines could help you in playing cat and mouse, but of course all of this depend on how big a table and how much terrain you usually play on... (If you can manage to infiltrate the pathfinders in cover on a rear flank and try and ping away a Razorback or rhino it might be helpful too. but really what you want to do is take out his anti armor and mobility and then pick him off in small bites.)
excellent guys, thanks for all the help.
I thought I might as well post on the same thread that I played a game yesterday against what was basically a vulkan droppod army, and it was brutal! Anyone have any suggestions on any tips or tricks to avoid the full brunt of this army?
Against most Marine armies, you will tear them to pieces with 3 Fire Prisms. Apart from that, making them take lots and lots of Armour saves - Dire Avengers with Bladestorm are particularly good at this - hurts a lot. Against a drop pod Vulkan army, vehicles are your friend. Space out your deployment so they can't target the part of your lines where it will hurt the most, and move your vehicles around all the time, claiming that vital Cover Save and always going just out of reach.
