Hiya Tau players.
Im a current SM player thinking of picking up Tau after I played a few games and realized my play style.
First what would be a good starting point for me, besides possibly the Tau Box?
Are the two battle suit HQ's worth the points, and would I have to take a 2nd HQ to go with one of them?
When I am choosing gear, and to use the Broadside as an example, says I MUST take one...Can I take more than one?
And I think lastly for now, do shield drones invulnerable save stack or is taking 2+ for back up purposes should one die?
Thanks in advance for the help!!!
Some of your questions are oddly worded, or maybe I'm just tired so I'll answer what I can.
As of what to start with, start with things you must have i.e. Fire Warriors and an HQ Suit. Beyond that, make a small points list, proxy it and if you like it, buy it. Build in 500 point increments from there.
In 1500 and above, 2 HQ Suits are worth it, the cheaper versions at least. Below that one is usually fine.
I don't really understand the last two questions, sorry. :[

Yeah I'm not sure I understand, but I shield drones aren't wargear, they are actual models - this means they do not stack and have their own personal 4+ invuln save you may make. The only unit you MUS take are one squad of Fire Warriors, you can fill up the other troop slot with Kroot or Auxillary. You may take more than one squad if you like though.

no u cant take a second gear on a broadside, he is only allowed one, unlike crisis suits which u can give up a weapon for a second suport system (which is a terrible idea!)
no invulnerable saves from sheild drones dont stack up, but its worth taking 2 sometimes for extra protection, and when u fail a 4+ invul the drone dies and u have no more invulnerable protection.
