Eldar Missile Launcher
First off, let me say that I absolutely LOVE War Walkers. I run a mechanised Eldar list, where everything is in a Serpent or a Jetbike (or a Fire Prism).
Except the War Walkers, of course. I almost always infiltrate them behind enemy lines and let them wreak havoc. The beauty is that they're so cheap the way I run them that for all intents and purposes, they're completely expendable!
In 1000 points, I run 2 War Walkers in a squadron, both with 2 Shruiken Cannons, making it a ridiculously cheap choice. (My other 2 spots are reserved by Fire Prisms)
In 1500, I up it to 3, but keep the Shuriken Cannons. Too good of a bargain.
So my question to you is this:
Do you use War Walkers often? If so, what loadout and what unit combinations do you need? (IMO Starcannon/EML Walkers NEED a Guideseer)
If not, what prohibits you?
I have yet to really rue taking the Walkers since they have performed admirably so far: today they killed a Leman Russ, an IG company command squad, 2 infantry platoon command squads and about 14 Guardsmen. Which was ridiculous.

I don't like the range of Shuriken Cannons. If I want cannons, the Wave Serpents will handle that.
War Walkers with scatter lasers are, for me, pretty much the only reason I take them. They are an acceptably affordable platform to douse the area in eight STR6 shots at a safe distance. The quantity of attacks makes BS3 tolerable.
Using Cannons makes it such that you are in range of bolter fire, and bolters can glance you.
Just keep them near terrain and away from board edges to avoid deep-strikers and outflankers.
Current Heavy Support:
- Twin Walkers; scatter lasers/Scatter lasers/EML
This above all; to thine own self be true.
I don't use or like them. but that's just a preference. I reserve my heavy support for the resilience of wraithlords, I love defense as much as offense.
but in other news, since YOU in fact do like them, I feel proud and honored to inform you that if you give your walkers two shuriken cannons, then they aren't twin linked. They actually have two cannons, and so fire 6 shots a piece (instead of a re-rollable 3 shots each)
I realize you may have already known this, but you referred to your walkers has having twin linked cannons, so you if you've been playing like that, then this is great news for you!
My 3 War Walkers always have Scatterlasers. Depending on which army I'm facing, I'll either have them setup right at the start near the front lines so I can get them firing right off the bat, or if I'm facing Tau, I'll have them outflank and try to harass them by assaulting the closest infantry squad.
Definitely always field them with 2 shuriken cannons
3 shuriken cannon war walkers - 120pts - 18 shots, r24, ap5
2 scatter laser war walkers - 120pts - 16 shots r36, ap6
Much rather have the 3 war walkers for that, extra survivability, more shots, and if successfully outflanking, range should never be an issue
3x war walkers, with twin scatter lasers always.~ 180p. The range makes it worth.

I only use them in apocalypse battles. I use 13 of them ( with the shadow walk formation or something ). All scatter lasers.
Due tue the formation rule, I can shoot all my weapons TWICE the turn I come into play.
208 shots at str 6, say bye bye to enemies .
"Follow me if I advance,
Kill me if I retreat.
Avenge me if I die."
I'm kind of suprised by how popular the Scatterlasers are! I'm not fully understanding why, to be honest.
Like Anarkhia mentioned before, 3 Shruiken Cannon Walkers are the same price as 2 Scatter Laser walkers. In my experience, the 24" range is not an issue given that the outflank move can bring them right onto the enemy's hindquarters.
Also since they're walkers, they have an effective threat range of 6" (move) + 24" (Shruiken Cannon), so I don't find the range to be an issue at all.
To be honest, more enemies are 5+ armor than 6+ (Ork boyz and Guardsmen come to mind) so the Shruiken Cannon effectively trumps in the armor piercing game.
Granted the Scatterlaser walker puts on a ludicrious amount of firepower, but as mentioned before, for the same price, 3 Shruiken Cannon Walkers put out slightly more shots at a lower AP.
Now I was thinking someone might actually try guided Starcannon Walkers (I'm tempted to try). I would forego outflanking, set the walkers up in cover and guide/fortune them whenever possible. I'm smelling lots of dead MEQ, though in all fairness, a pair of Prisms may do the trick a little better.
I voted for Scatters. But Shuricannons are also something I'd consider using in small point games, as you say you get more shots per point. But I think that Scatters are more popular because people want to get the maximum amount of shots out of their Heavy Support choice. And the increased range is also nice. I don't think the slightly worse AP makes a huge amount of difference as I imagine the things you shoot at will most likely have a better save than 5+ anyway.
