Welcome to Librarium Online!
Ok, for anyone who doesn't know what the seer council is it's a group of warlocks ( in my cause on jetbikes) with a farseer (also on a jetbike) Who are T 4 with witchblades wound us Tau on 2+ and taking vehicles down like butter. They have a 4+ inv. and with the farseer usually have fortune which means they have re-rolls on their saves. Just yesterday I pumped 30 wounds on this squad with 3 units and he lost only 2! What are all your suggestions for ridding these eldar? My only thoughts were crisis suit plasma, but there has to be a better way....if they fail and get assaulted then its all over...
Nids 2500pts and Breeding!
Missile pods and railguns.
Surrounding vehicles with kroot will dissuade the expensive bike unit from attacking the vehicles and Kroot hounds are a very nice antidote to Warlocks (even if they use enhance and fortune)
I like hitting the unit with Seekers, Missile pods and Railguns, use Markerlights to up the BS of firing units to maximise damage. If the Eldar player takes a unit like the one you described above then he has a lot of points invested in it if it is sizable )6 or more Warlocks) and it is vulnerable if it is smaller.
There is no real easy guaranteed answer to handling these sort of units. The best advice is not to panic and make it dangerous for the Eldar player to risk the unit. Pour fire into it from range and use Kroot or Piranhas to hold the unit up.
Riki is right, that sounds really rough on ur part, only failing 2 from 30!? ive killed an entire plague marine squad with that many! id just counter with anything that wounds them on 2s (which being eldar shouldnt be SO hard)
There are three kinds of people in this world, those who can count and those who cannot.
remember the squad is very expensive about 600pts so it's gunna be hard to kill, in my opion it would be a waste to use railguns and such as they have re-roll invuls, best to shoot lots of guns or in my opinion use a heavtwave team to rack up the saves
Question: Is using a Plasma rifle to kill a fly overkill?
Answer: Nevah, the fly was in the way when i was melting some Death Guard!
Drop pie plates on them!
Multiple wounds is what will be their downfall. As Riki said, the amount of firepower is key rather than the strength of the individual weapons being shot.
Another point to make is: don't get fixated on killing the Council and forget about the rest of the army. While you're trying to kill a notoriously difficult-to-kill unit, the rest of the Eldar is probably beating seven bells out of you somewhere else. Yes, the Council are dangerous etc, but Dark Reaper Exarchs with Fast Shot and a Tempest Launcher are going to do an awful lot more damage over the game time. Bladestorm D/Avengers will shred the Tau if they get too close, and Harlies/Banshees - well, let's not go there.
Prioritise your targets, but keep a healthy respect for that Council.
"Tau Commandment #226: Participants who use Velocity Trackers in the Tau Clay Pigeon Tournament will be disqualified"
Seer councils are a pain. If they boost directly into my lines first turn I will pour everything into it till it's dead or atleast until they are whittled down to a couple. If I have first turn I try to tag all their vehicles first especially transports (wave serpents) This will keep the player from backing up their seer council.
- Never underestimate the power of human stupidity.
I've seen Seer Council many times, and it always ends the same way. Volume of fire. Plasma is wasted on them due to their re-rollable 4+ invulnerable save. Use kroot, fire warriors, and devilfish to take them down.Ummm not quite. Fortune lets you re-roll every failed save (in this case the save is 3+), meaning the average result from 30 wounds is 3.33 kills. That invincibility is what makes seer council such a fine slice of cheese.Originally Posted by rikimaru
Remember, volume of fire.
EDIT: You ninja'd me. If he's not on bikes then don't worry about it. Waves Serpents will go down to missile pods.
