    Tau Army Types

ok i want to get a good perspective of wat this forum plays.
me personally a gunline. i prefer it because i can pretty much blast anything i want to peices, and during objectives, just focus on the troops.

Well the army i plan on running will be hals Mech and half School so i didnt know what to vote for ^^

I personaly dont like the idea of staying stationary, i love the mobility our Dfish and Suits offer, i want to be able to hit my aponant without waiting for him to come within range of my Fire warriors.

I think the vast majority of people are going to choose "none of the above", considering the absence of Hybrid Tau (which almost everyone plays, and is the only truly competetive way to play).

Also, what is MEQ Tau? Do you mean Mech Tau as in Mechanized? MEQ refers to Marine EQuivalents, which Tau are not.

Like M.O.M. said, I play what has been traditionally called a "hybrid" list. My unmounted units are crisis suits, broadsides, and Kroot, (and Pathfinders, practically speaking), mixed in with a healthy smattering of Devilfish, Piranhas, and Hammerhead-chassis mainline battle tanks.
ninjabackhand: point and click, again, really? even after i give you an military term "shock tactic" you still call it point and click.

I play Mobile Tau. 2 units of Kroot, 2 units of Fire Warriors in Devilfish. Hammerheads, Skyray and XV8's. To me Hybrid was mobile units with static firebase (very uncommon in 5th) which is different to how most play FW's and Kroot now.
the 5th edition game is much more about speed and board control and gunline Tau does do not cut it, please remember I am talking about the meta game and not just games played on a local level were gun line etc can work against limited opponents. In 5th if you want to succeed against a wide range of armies you need to go mobile Tau.

All of my fire warriors/ pathfinders use devilfish, and the rest of my force 'move' in some fashion.

I tend to be more mobile, nowadays, as a stotic force is getting boring and blown off the field rather quickly.

    Hehe.

Air Assault Armoured Cadre (for bigger games) - Sky Ray, 2 Railheads, 4 Tetras, 10 Piranhas, 4 Devilfish with 12 FWs each, Pathfinders, Obligatory Commander, Barracudas x2

Mech Tau: Similar to above except leave out Barracudas, Tetras and Piranhas and bulk up on XV8s, Kroot.

Mobile Tau: As per Riki, more or less.

    Farsight Enclave.
