    Rending Claws

This is a really nooby question but i have been using the tyranids for a day and i was wondering do rending claws rend on 6 or do they automatically rend. I am confused because the codex states All the creatures close combat attacks are rending instead of just saying the creature has the rending special rule.

I know you may find the Tyranids physically repellent to look at but believe me, you don't want to let them out of your sight.

Rending only take place on a 6. Saying they are all Rending is there to try and stop people from thinking it doesn't affect bonus attacks from Scything Talons, or it only affects one attack from their claws or something. I've seen it happen, but it does help sometimes.

Rending Claws are "Rending" Weapons. Rending weapons have the ability to ignore armor upon a certain to wound roll. Rules for Rending is found on pg 31; BRB

And as grantneodude stated. Its specifying that all of the attacks from the model with "Rending Claws" can in fact cause rending.

Just as a Space Marine with a Power Sword, and a bolt pistol, would get all of his attacks with the Power Sword's benefits.

And rending counts as a power weapon if you get a six right?

Yeah thats what it says, but there's more to it than that - there is a bonus against vehicles on a 6 aswell.

    On a roll of a 6 you

Wound even if can not normaly wound that person as S is to low V T
Count as AP2 or is it AP1 forgot
Get an extra D3 to vehicle Pen
Makes a model not able to use WWB (unless orb in range) and FNP
