I mean does combined beams help that much?
I really need the points to get a 2nd HQ Farseer and taking out 1 FP seems to be the only way to do this.
i think the point of taking multiple prisms isn't to combine beams but to make the single one less of a target
No because the combine can really help in some situations (Land Raiders) and if you only have one it can be shaken/stunned all game with no problem. At least 2 or none imo.

I bought one, and very shortly after had to buy a second. They're very effective against any army, and having 2 just makes it more versatile. Against hordes use them seperate, against armies like marines combine the beams and wipe out entire units of space marines on a single shot, or as mentioned above, those damn land raiders
In my past experiance you won't get a lot out of 1 prism. Either A ) It will be shaken the whole game because they are a big target if solo or B ) not having the TL from combining means your left to the mercy of the scatter die.
Having just the one turns it into a huge fire magnet, nuff said. Run 2 or more...

As far as saving points, if you really need an extra HS, go for a Wraithlord. One FP simply does not cut it in most situations.
Fritz from WoSH uses just one, I guess he doesn't rely on it killing anything so much as being a tough anvil for the enemy to smash against uselessly.
