Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hello, Im about to join the hiveminds here in a month or so.
Im buying the battleforce from a friend and hes already assembled them all they way he wanted. Because he and I are both very low budget gamers (i would love not to be) Hes gone very bio morph heavy. Im now buying it from him however...
I know that Tyranids are a horde army and ive been reading alot here about fielding 3+ fexes but that will have to wait.
I cant remember the list exactly but
All the gaunts have Scything Talons, Toxin Sacs, Enhanced Sense
Genestealers have Sything Talons, Toxin Sacs, Enhanced Senses, Extented Carapace
Warriors im not sure about guns but all had Scyting Talons, Enhanced Sense and Toxin Sacs as well, probobly more.
Carnifex has Scything Talons, Scything Tail, Reenforced Chitin, Toxin Sacs, +1 I etc
As I said I cant remember but he took nearlly all of the morphs available, they battleforce is about 800 points or so.
Im thinking about continueing with the Morph heavy army, or should i remove alot of them and build it "Horde Style".
So the questions I have are.
If I load up a Tyranid army with as many morphs as possible would they still fair alright in battle or is this a really bad idea?
Just thought I would ask for some help here as it seems alot of ppl here can help.
Thanks in advance
Overall going super bio-morph heavy is just asking to lose most of your battles. Especially if your loading up your gaunts. Don't get me wrong the 16 points Hormie can be loads of fun, but your not likely to win many battles fielding these guys.
Your best bet is to take a look at what you've got and look around at how they are usually run. Do you want killy 'stealers? go ahead and put those scything talons on. Do you see lots of Marines and AP5 guns? Put extended carapace on your 'stelaers.
What you use for biomorphs is going to depend a fair bit on what you see in your area most often, so biomorph advice would be more helpful if you could post that.
I'll say I'm not much of a fan of the "Godfex" as they can easily reach over 200 points, and don't reliably make it back. But one of my buddies who plays 'Nids as a secondary army is a fairly big fan of them.
Before you take a whole lot of advice I'd recommend going out and trying them as is. If you like the feel of how they play then go for it. If you don't, start looking at other options. That's the beauty of Tyranids, we have at least like 10 different ways to run them, even if most are exactly competitive.
Thats kinda the responce i expected, that it probobl wouldnt be worth it, Ive just looked in the Codex (Its in German) and added all the morphs up.
its 1003 Points
Another fex for the elite slot and some more warriors for synapse and ill be over 1500 with a VERY small tyranid army.
The fex alone is 246 points and i have 8 stealers at 352, thats a major point sink in my opinion.
