Welcome to Librarium Online!
Any ideas about how to survive this? Sure skip MC´s lol..
No seriously any ideas?
I mean wee need some as anti tank, since zoanthrope sucks at it imo.
We could use hive tyrants/brood lord, and a lot of warriors/stealers but that will not be enough vs tanks. (sure we can us that against that but we need them vs other stuff)
I feel so sad, sure i was expecting SW to be good but ****... I really hope we get something that can do something about that. heh...
Anyway any ideas until the codex comes?
Put andrenal glands i onto the fexes. Then ignore the rune priest unless you have an oportunity to kill it.
I would personally deploy in reserve if the runepriest are in drop pods.
Tske the opportunity to cheapen up your carnifexes if they were ove 170 points each.
Put your carnifexes 22" away if possible or put them into 2 or 3 group sof 2 that far away.
Get into assault asap, firstly its the tyranid way and secondly its my understanding that as a psychic shooting attack it cant shoot into combat.
The worst thing you can do imo is to concentrate on the rune priest unless they are out in the open on their own. You will risk ignoring more dangerous things.
Also bear in mind that running more than 1 or 2 RP's with JotWW will not be very competitive, as it's only extremely effective against an army and some units. I don't think we will be seeing that many SW armies running 4 RP for JotWW as they have better adaptable psychic powers, better HQ choices, and good troops. If you do see it a lot in your area for some reason, just start slapping that +1I onto your fexes. About the only thing we can do.
If the rumors prove to be true Fexes might also see an initiative boost in the new codex. That would certainly help protect our big guys against this power.
For now I think psychic choir is the way to go to counter this. Make tyrants melee focused and keep the fexes in the back with long range weapons. The Tyrants have a good chance to survive and the zoans may very well shut down most psychic powers when they get in range.
Personally I think that If your putting all your faith in to a Carnifex I would recommend balancing your army more. I fully belive that this was made to counter Nidzilla. If you have more then 5 MC in a 2000pt army or less then i think that your using to many and need more Guants and Genestealers.
In reality i think that there is no good answer on what to do verse them, but I think that 16Ogretyrant07 is correct. Only attack him if he becomes a target of oppertunity. Otherwise your going to forget the rest of the snarling death that is coming your way. They do have arguably the best Marines in any SM army.
Army's used: Space Wolves, Tomb Kings, High Elves, Tyranids, Tau and Eldar.
JoWW isn't as great as everyone thinks. Espeacially against 'nids. Its a line, so unless you put everything in a line you'll be fine. Your 'Fexes will suffer but like Willance if losing a Fex breaks your army your're doing it wrong. I mean if the Fex is in range your guants should already be in his face.
By the way it can fire through combat provided its not the intentional target, in the same way a flamer can target a tank and acceidently roast the guardsmen in the middle. At least thats my Interpertation of it, There's a debate going on it somewhere in the SM forum on it.
Some people are like slinkies...not really good for anything but still make you smile when you push them down the stairs.
You really think that JoWW was made to counter a five year old army build that is just struggling to stay alive in 5th edition? Okay.
I do fully expect carnifexes to get bumped up to I2, maybe 3 with the new codex. I know that they are I3 in the leaked stat line...however legit that is.
Building a list to counter JoWW is not the best idea, just play around it as everyone else has mentioned.
You should also realize that a single Wolf Priest costs about the same as one of your Carnifexes.
I can tell you what not to do
Played wolves yesterday 1 lone rune priest killed 2 fexes.
Dont forget about the lines I thought I had it covered but drop pods are so accurate (The fact that there safe unless theyve decident to put it right next to a table edge) that hge managed to drop it move 2" closer to my nearest fex and just get a line to the second fex.
Also dont assualt them with fexes (I was never aware what the staff did honest, though the next turn I did charge another fex at it )
Keep in mind that I am primarily a tournament player and my opinion is based off of what I think when I see this power across the table at a tourney.
The fact is that JotWW makes wolves vs. tyranids a complete mismatch at the moment. This is a power that never would have made the cut if we did not have a codex coming out in three months.
All we can do now is hunker down and wait for out I3 carnifexes and bad ass swarm army.
Even after that I am afraid that this power will be a huge head ache for the hive mind.
