As this is a general deterrent from the codex rumors thread, I thought I'd throw in another wishlist for the new codex to let everyone discuss what they want/hope to have happen in our (supposed) new book.
Flayed Ones as troops
Turn Phase Out into Necron's "ATSKNF"
Heavy Destroyers as a unit upgrade for Desroyers
Competent Pariahs (more attacks or access to Veil)
Keep WBB, just rewrite it
New units (though that's probably a given)
Just a couple of things need fixing, I think:
Flayed Ones in units of 10+ count as Troops
A new vehicle or walker might be nice
Heavy Destroyers' weapon to be twin-linked
Give Pariah FNP
Give Wraiths Rending
Gauss rule to stay the same, but successful glancing hits only have a -1 modifier, not -2
Alzer, why do you torture us so?
- Rewrite WBB so it is less complicated.*
- Rewrite PO so that it isn't a win-button for opponents.*
- TL the Heavy Gauss Cannon and/or make it AP1
- Change deployment rules for TS and Scarabs.*
- S&P for Immortals (useless, but consistent) and Warriors.
*For a better idea of what I mean, check out this thread: Kore's Codex Necrons 5e...
Karmoon: "well.. any kore = good kore" 12:35pm PST 23 May 2007
Re-wording of WBB. Even as a non-Necron player I don't want to see them get FnP instead. I just don't like the idea of them having it. Just clear up WBB to make it simpler don't change to FnP
Points drop for Warriors (and a good number of other units), and leave as is. I think they are a good troops choice they are just too expensive in the current climate.
Make gauss close to what it was before, so perhaps just a -1 on glancing instead of a -2. They need the tank help back.
PW status or at least Rending for Wraiths. They need something to ignore armor with. I just don't know whether to have them be full on PW's or just Rending. That could use some testing. Also increase squad size.
Something vehicle-like besides just the monolith.
Variety in troops, even if it's just something like suggested above 10+ FO's count as troops. Would be nice to see more of the non-warrior side of Necrons.
As far as your idea for PO goes kore I think it might be overpowered. Just how often do you see someone failing a Ld 10 check? There's only a 3/36 chance to fail it, or equivalent to 1/12 chance in reality. I realize your trying to fix one of the weakest points in Necrons in 5th, but I'm just not sure that's the way to do it. It means you'll almost never lose a unit to CC again, and unless it's bottom of your last turn when it happens, you WILL get them back. Perhaps just changing PO to work on a smaller percentage like 10 or 15. If your down to that many left you've pretty much lost the game anyway. Could also only make it force a run away on 'necron' units, not the whole army. That's just my two cents.
Hmm, I dunno if I read your codex through, I'll take some time to do that.
Something I've realised is most of the units don't need changes. The army needs a couple pushes in the direction of 5ed as a whole.
-Troop Flayed Ones is still a toss up in my mind, I dunno if I'll ever make up my mind on that.
-Stubborn for all Necrons to make us SOMEWHAT resistant to sweeping advance.
-More mobility options, an Obelisk (i.e. DoW) would be great.
-New wargear toys! Some of the apocalypse lords are amazingly cool, toned down abilities of that nature to bring more fluff to the Necrons would be highly appreciated.
Oh, I'm also going to be Sticking this thread so it's around and I never have to make a new one (until 6ed at least).
fix the severe disadvantage we having during initiate checks, it's ridiculous that even with the highest roll possible our opponent might only need a 2+ to beat us.. and that's assuming we roll a 6
keeping WBB as it is (go down and come back next turn) but finding a way to revise it to fit the current rulebook
some points fixes or more "upgrade" options. It's nearly impossible to add somthing in to your list to get your close to your points goal without adding 50s of points in at a time
just overall general fixing, we've just become so broken as the years have passed that almost every facet of the game for us is now an outright challenge.
Really I don't have too many wishes aside from wanting more unit upgrades and squad options because i can't help but feel bored when i'm building necron lists vs building my templar lists, not enough options. Seriously, the army plays just fine... albeit not with the current rulebook. Fix that and I would be happy.
Alright, this is gonna sound a little crazy, but that's 'cause I play Chaos.
Reasoning for this: Lords need more options. Masters of Space and Time remember? Id like to see war gear on par with the Daemons abilities (I like them myself).
Options should include the ability to make Shroud Lords, Scarab Lords or anything else the fluff mentions. A Necron Lord similar to say, a Daemon Prince would be cool. An ability to assault from deep strike wouldn't be outside the power of a Necron Lord.
Troops: Wraiths, Warriors, Flayed Ones, Transport
Reasoning for this: the Chaos Space Marines have 5 troop choices. Why shouldn't you?
This makes things a lot easier on unit decision if you've got a few things to pick from.
There should be some sort of transport available for warriors. Even if a "rhino" isn't within the Necron fluff how about a piece of wargear that will place a marker ("Tomb Shard" or something like that) that moves 12-18" every turn untill destroyed?
Heavy: "Red Harveter", "Dire Immortals", "Obelisk"
Reasoning for this: a monsterous creature to inspire fear as it stomps across the battlefield. I think something comparable to a wraithlord or greater deamon. The heavy picks are pretty slim right now.
The Dire Immortals would act similar to a Havoc Squad, Dark Reapers, or other heavy shooting unit. Introduce a gun for them that would be able to pop armor, as the current "glance it to death!" doesnt always work.
Obelisk would act as a medium tank somewhere in the 90 - 150pts range. change the armor down to 12 all round and give it some suitable guns. The monolith is expensive, there should be something in between.
General Things: Wraiths need power weapons or rending.
Warriors need a points drop if they have no options at all
Guass Rule needs some lovins. Rending on a 6 instead?
WBB should get cleared up, but not turned into FNP
Anywho, just my . Someone smarter then myself needs to give this army some lovins.

"So, how did you become a Renegade Space Marine?"
"..... Tax evasion...."
In my opinion, when it comes to necrons less is more.
Less changes. Actually, i feel that the codex is equal to perfection in almost every single aspect. Some balancing is all i want. Give me my flayer and my morale back. Spice it with a piece of wargear for the lord, maybe a flamer for the spyder, and it's very well done. A transport would be a quite nice bonus, but not any more.
Why would i want a medium tank? Why would i want to upgrade a necron? Just because of the upgrade?I don't feel like that's the army i got to know and started to love some years ago.
No, I don't need more STUFF. I NEED MY GUASS FLAYER BACK!
